This might be a good gift for someone who is moving to their 1st home & needs everything. Since you don't know what's included & you have no choice, it's not something I'd be interested in. Kinda like a spice "grab bag."

Do you get to choose what spices you get in the refills or do you only get the ones that came with the spice rack?

@gmwhit: Agreed. Also, these spices are nowhere near fresh, and there IS a HUGE difference between fresh and pre-packaged. Another thing to remember: light affects spices and many other foods, which is why mine are kept in a dark cabinet or the fridge.

I got one of these for free when somebody got rid of theirs. I'd call it less a "spice rack" and more an "herb rack." Instead of things I'd actually use like ground ginger and paprika, there's things like "italian seasoning," "pizza seasoning," and all the things that make up those blends separately. A nice little rack, but the selection is poor. This one could have a better selection, but who knows?
