XCOM: Enemy Unknown (I) for $14.95 + free shipping
This is the International version of XCOM: Enemy Unknown. However, XCOM is region-free, meaning that the disc will work on any Playstation 3 console, worldwide.
XCOM: Enemy Unknown will place you in control of a secret paramilitary organization called XCOM. As the XCOM commander, you will defend against a terrifying global alien invasion by managing resources, advancing technologies, and overseeing combat strategies and individual unit tactics. The original X-COM is widely regarded as one of the best games ever made and has now been re-imagined by the strategy experts at Firaxis Games. XCOM: Enemy Unknown will expand on that legacy with an entirely new invasion story, enemies and technologies to fight aliens and defend Earth. You will control the fate of the human race through researching alien technologies, creating and managing a fully operational base, planning combat missions and controlling soldier movement in battle.
That's a pretty decent deal. I would pick it up if I hadn't just bought the steam version for $15 a couple of weeks ago.
Right now Steam is offering it for $49.99. Tempting...
awesome deal, don't really buy a lot of ps3 games (thanks to ps plus) but at this price can't pass it up!
This game is amazing. I played the PC version on Steam (got it for $30 a few months ago) and immediately replayed it. It's a little buggy, but that wasn't an issue compared to how fun the game was.
Be aware that while the game disc will work on any PS3, the DLC (free or pay) will likely be locked to a region (gamedealdaily.com does have a blurb about this at the end).
I've bought other international versions of PS3 games and they play on my console with a US PSN account, but the DLC is not available.
If DLC isn't a big deal to you it shouldn't matter, but if you plan on accessing it, you'll want a copy that matches your PSN account.
I haven't done it, but I understand you can maintain multiple accounts on your PSN that are set up to access different PSN region stores. I think it's a bit of a hassle and you need to be able to pay in the local currency if you want anything other than demos, but it is doable.
The payment appears to go to an individual and there's no confirmation message other than paypal receipt. I'm having doubts about this operation, will give it a week...
