Black & Decker 20” Hedge Trimmer for $29.99 + $5.00 shipping
Gardening will never be as authentic and natural as it was in the Seventies.
Think I'm going to be in for one of these. Amazon reviews are really good and it is much cheaper here.

I got the two pack on Woot for $59.99. Love it. Trimmed some huge hedges in under 5 minutes. Today I even used it to trim low hanging branches on an oak tree over my driveway.
Got one of these in my latest BOC. They feel a little flimsy, and mine was bent like a crescent when I unpacked it. But, a little careful bending and tweaking later, and I have a working hedge trimmer! Now if I only had some hedges...
Can I use this on overgrown weeds too?
@evilpaul2012: How exactly is $46.56 + Prime Shipping cheaper than $29.99 + 5.00 S/H? Odd.
@tracid: I use my 17" model for that very thing. It works like a charm even on the really thick based 4' ones I had coming up in the side yard that I hadn't seen.
The blade does feel a bit weak but hasn't let me down in over 5 years; it's tougher than it looks and feels.
@sephiraziel: I think they posted that link for the reviews and not the price.
Giving one of these as an anniversary gift sends a very strong message.
Disappointed WOOT! went for the obvious, easy, cheap joke here.
You're bETTER THAN THIS, WOOT!
/Prefers a nice, manicured boxwood himself...
Sophmoric humor, Proud of you WOOT.
Picked up one of these off a *.woot site sometime in the dead of winter. Arrived in perfect shape. I've only used it one day, but I cut a variety of material from tall, coarse ornamental grasses, to (bring me a!) shrubbery, to tough, woody holly. As long as you don't expect it to work like a chain saw, you won't be disappointed at this price point.
It is light too. Good for amateur trimming but I wouldn't expect this to last in heavy use on set.
I picked this up during the winter through woot! as well. I finally used it last month to begin to tackle the overgrown bushes and plant life that came with the new house. The neighbors mentioned that nothing had been taken care of for the past two years. I believe that they lied. It has to have been three years.
Now, everything I have gotten to looks great and it was a piece of cake. The trimmer performed admirably. It is not a chainsaw or a lopper, but it works well. I would easily expect to get several years out of this before I manage to break it by pushing its limits. At this price, I feel like it is a deal for what you get.
Remember to not trim your power cord. I have managed to avoid that so far, but I figure that I am due soon. There is still yard work to do here.
Got this last time it was offered here on Woot -- it is wonderful!! No complaints at all. It's a steal!
It's tough to justify NiCd battery powered tools when Lithium is available, which is lighter, lasts longer, and doesn't suffer from memory effect.
I have this also and it does an ok job for the price. You are not cutting down large items but if you are using a hedge trimmer to trim a tree then you have other issues at hand.
@mcguffy: I think this says that it is corded, so I think no battery.
Just want to echo the comments, I bought this last time it was on sale and works fantastically!
I loved mine till it got stolen! In for one, again. Great price, thanks!
@meladori: Yes, you will need an extension cord.
Aweseome price, wife has been complaining about how difficult it has been to trim her hedges.
I have one. Makes hedge trimming easy. Works well enough. It could be sturdier, but since I only need it twice a year, it is just fine. Well worth the money.
Love mine. It's not only efficient at trimming my hedges and low-hanging tree branches, but extension cords. The shower of sparks is impressive too.
i hear it's being used in the even lower budget remake of "Army of Darkness".
Love the write-up! LOL!
Would be in for one but I cant justify the price when I have perma-borrowed (with his permission) a gas trimmer. This seems nice and light but that thing does eat small trees for lunch, even some stuff that doesn't fit between the blades it can gnaw at till its though. Otherwise though I would probably be all over this deal, its a really good price.
Lowes has this same trimmer for $25.00
The Lowes B&D trimmer for less is a 17" model. The 20" model is $49
How nice, my 30-year old Black & Decker trimmer is about to give up the ghost. This was just what I needed.
I really wish Woot would offer the cordless version. I have gotten spoiled to my Black & Decker cordless blower and cordless pole saw so it would be nice to round out my collection.
We've had one of these for a few years. Great for hedges & bushes, but not much else. Doesn't cut through fibrous leaves (they get stuck between the oscillating blades) or twigs thicker than a pencil (those jam it). So, if you have something that normal clippers handle fairly easily, this corded (no battery) trimmer will do fine. For all else, there are better tools.
But....I Don't Have any 20" Hedges!
^^X^^
