Awesome! It worked, had to switch from chrome to explorer, but it went through. $12.69 (incl. tax) is a heck of a deal. Hopefully Wal-Mart will honor this!

vote-for2vote-against

Pre-ordered....and now the wait.

vote-for1vote-against

@dealhawk: I did the same (paid with paypal), so no charges later!

vote-for1vote-against

Also in for one. Order just went through :)

vote-for2vote-against

The longer this sits, the more I think it is real. I would think after thousands of orders being placed they would have realized by now if it was a screw up.

vote-for1vote-against

I'm in for 2! Worse case scenario is I get a refund...

vote-for2vote-against

@ej30013: weird.. I'm seeing Release Date: 11/06/2012.

vote-for1vote-against

Your order is being processed. It is estimated to arrive between Thursday, 12/06/2012 and Monday, 12/10/2012.
why so long? heck, i live 3 miles from the local wmart, lol

vote-for1vote-against

@baxter: have you not pre ordered before? they cant do that...

vote-for1vote-against

10:25 pm pst, just bought mine and got a confirmation email. Thanks Walmart, and suck it!

vote-for1vote-against

N 4 1. Just wait & see what happens next...

vote-for2vote-against

for 12 dollars with tax it's worth the risk! Heck if it goes through I can always give it away as a really nice X-Mas gift!

vote-for1vote-against

@chelone: Good idea. I have no use for more than 1 set but I want to buy 5 more for no real good reason other than I think this is a Wal-Mart glitch. Gifts...they can all be gifts.

vote-for2vote-against

@ashah1111: I had that happen to me on Chrome, but I switched over to Firefox and it worked. It must need some plugin or another that I have disabled Chrome but enabled in Firefox. I'd try using a different browser and see what happens.

vote-for3vote-against

Worked fine for me. No mention of additional charges, but decided to go Paypal just for that extra buffer. Thanks for the idea! :-) After tax and shipping looks like a trip to see the Hobbit and a $6 Blu-ray update. Hope it works...

vote-for3vote-against

I think the reason it is so cheap is because no one will buy this edition now the extended cut is coming out. They are trying to get rid of non-moving inventory.

vote-for1vote-against

Even if this is some sneaky thing where the $10 is a pre-order deposit (99% chance it's not though), it's an easy in-store return if you don't open it. Worst case scenario. Not sure if they refund the $2 shipping, but I suppose it's worth the $2 gamble.

vote-for1vote-against

Ordered just now, no problems. I'm hoping this'll stick, and we'll get it all fine and dandy. But I'm betting Walmart will cancel all of our orders and raise the price to whatever it's supposed to be.. :/

vote-for2vote-against

@ashah1111: I was getting the same issue with Firefox.. It just kept reloading the cart page rather than letting me sign in and checkout.

I loaded the site in Chrome and it worked fine. I don't know if it's just a quirk with Firefox or all the anti-tracking, adblocking, etc plugins I've installed for Firefox wreaking havoc with the site.

vote-for2vote-against

This is what happens when you pay everyone who works for you minimum wage and actively prevent unions. At least I feel good about making a quick buck on eBay off Walmart's exploitation.

vote-for4vote-against

Hope this works. I always wanted the trilogy but I didn't want to pay that much to own it on blu ray.

vote-for2vote-against

@ciabelle: Given that others reported trouble using Chrome, but able to buy with Firefox.. It probably is that Wally World does not play well with browsers which have been configured to not play nice with 3rd party trackers, ads, javascript, flash, etc. --Even temporarily disabling most of that still gave me problems with Firefox..

Moral is: if you have trouble ordering, try another browser without oodles of custom tweaks. --And then remember that Walmart can and will share very detailed information about you and how you browse their site and others on the net to anyone for a price.. And bear that in mind and always use your locked down browser to visit the site, and only use a less secure browser if you must try to buy a $100 BluRay set for $12.

vote-for3vote-against

Just ordered it w/PayPal, thank for the idea (whoever you were who first mentioned it)! I live on disability and thus a later charge of $90+ would screw me over big time, especially at the gift-giving season! So, double-thanks for that tidbit of advice. Yeah, this will make a great gift for my brother who has the blu-ray and the 60" flat screen!

vote-for4vote-against

Ditto Blackwood & others before me. Just ordered & deal went thru (about 12:50am CST). With shipping & tax it came to about $12.50. I wouldn't have thought of using PayPal & a massive later charge would have killed the deal for me, so thanks again for mentioning that they can't just add on a charge later if you bill that way.

vote-for3vote-against

Well.... Here's the deal, if they "Charge" you for the item then I would say, yes Wal Mart probably won't cancel the deal. However, I show the charge for 12.66 as "Pending" until they actually charge my account, and that usually takes 1 full business day

vote-for2vote-against

I think precious got a hold of Walmart!

vote-for-7vote-against

Hi guys,
Are you reading the bottom under the description part? It appears to be just $10 toward a ticket to watch the movie in theaters on Dec 14. See what I mean:

"Receive Movie Money Towards One Admission Ticket to see "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" in Theaters 12/14/2012."

Now, if it is for the dvd's then I want in too, but I'm led to believe that it's just a discounted movie theater ticket. Thoughts?

vote-for1vote-against

@jewelz528: That does talk about the "movie money" included in the deal but the Item description title reads "Lord Of The Rings Original Motion Picture Trilogy (Blu-ray) (With Hobbit Movie Money) (Exclusive) (Widescreen)". This is saying the movie money comes with the trilogy.

vote-for0vote-against

@baxter: No - I don't believe this is correct. It has a list price of $19.98, pre-order reservations are almost always whole dollar amounts and are rarely more than $5.

vote-for2vote-against

Could be a holiday special BF price posted early.

vote-for1vote-against

I know sometimes on video games you pay 5 to 10 dollars to reserve your copy and the rest is due at time of pickup. It just reserves your spot. Don't know if this is what that is but it seems a bit to good to be true.

vote-for2vote-against

It's the regular edition, not extended if that matters to you.

vote-for2vote-against

this is going to be a 1 BluRay case set with a flip tray (think how the bluray/dvd combo packs come packed) and its going to be the standard not extended editions. that is why they say original motion picture trilogy, and "exclusive" which means a walmart packaging

vote-for1vote-against

Ok, I've decided to get it anyway. That's crazy cheap even if it's the regular blu-rays. (and just under $2 shipping!?)

vote-for0vote-against

@baxter: Only issue with your statement sir, is there is no mention of the final cost, or that they would charge anything else.

Also my friend got the godfather trilogy through walmart on a similar mess up for $10

vote-for1vote-against

In for one....crossing my fingers this works :D

vote-for1vote-against

In for 2. This will make a good Christmas gift!

vote-for1vote-against

@doc007: I think this is the most likely scenario. A special no-frills no extras Theatrical only Walmart exclusive edition. Still a decent deal, though not stellar.

vote-for1vote-against

@j5: Yeah, I guess "crazy deal" was a bit of an over statement. :) I guess it could be depending on what we end up with, but it will probably just be a decent deal for a gift or filler version while I wait to get the Super Deluxe Mega Special Extended Edition with the Hobbit included. :D

vote-for1vote-against

In for one with PayPal. Worked fine with my Android tab browser. Thanks OP!

vote-for1vote-against

This is a good deal if you want the first release editions of the movie. The original posting of this woot shows the "extended" version but clearly it is not that one. Typically all movies or music will release at a lower price point to generate the "impulse" purchase and then raise the price to the MSRP after a certain time.

vote-for1vote-against

In for 1, before Condolences and Bums Losing...

vote-for1vote-against

I'll bite; placed my order!

vote-for1vote-against

@madaradio: this is the extended edition - the deal is for theatrical version
