When this first came up on woot in 2009 It had been the 4th or 5th woot I saw. I really really wanted it and it sold out before I got the chance to buy it. After that I forgot about woot for a few years until someone told me linked me to it again about 8 months ago or so, bought some dirt and a popcorn maker for fathers day during a wootoff and I was hooked from there. I always hoped this deal would come back and it finally did last month (feb 12th) I was extatic when I saw it. I had to buy one and I did. I finally feel like my woot-life is complete and I can finally leave woot happy.

While I haven't gotten around to watching it, it has 170 hours of video to watch, and while that may seem intimidating I'm sure I'm going to love every hour of it.

vote-for26vote-against

If you're a war buff, you will definitely love this. Some of the movies start out a little slow but the footage is amazing...definitely worth every penny.

vote-for8vote-against

I think somebody figured out like 11 pennies an hour or something like that--it's a prodigious amount of video.

vote-for18vote-against

keep your expectations in check.

Yes, there is a lot of video, but it is not at the level that you might expect. The movies are ones I've never heard of. So yes, they are war movies, but you aren't getting Platoon or Glory.

I am a civil war buff, and there are two or three videos on the Civil war, but these aren't A&E or History channel documentaries.

@cowboydann: You can't get "QPs" on Deals.Woot. So stop trying.

vote-for28vote-against

They must have a never ending supply of these things.

vote-for9vote-against

@drchops: Thanks for the Pro-tip. PS I didn't downvote you.

vote-for4vote-against

@panthiest: I was about to make the same comment.

vote-for-15vote-against

I'm not sold... with NETFLIX I can watch war flix until I die and never get bored.

vote-for11vote-against

You guys can pan this all you want; all I know is, it'll keep my old man out of my hair for a while!

vote-for-12vote-against

Does it include our country's 40 year war, The War on Drugs?

vote-for7vote-against

Bought two of these the last time they came around, one for my brother and one for me. I haven't had a chance to go through even most of the video yet, but there's some exciting stuff in there. Sure, you aren't getting major blockbuster movies like @kurahee pointed out, but that's not why most people would buy this anyway. For a history buff like me, there's some great material and original footage in here, and there's a few actors people might be interested in seeing in the films that are included, including Cagney and Ronald Reagan.

vote-for7vote-against

For those people that bought one of these is it an actual metal ammo box that it comes in or is it cardboard? If its metal I would buy it just for the ammo box.

vote-for-14vote-against

Again?! Hmm wait...

---
WAR? HUH.

What is it good for? Over 170 hours of viewing, apparently.
---
ZOMG LOOOLLLLZZZ! It was worth putting this up for sale yet again, just for that alone. I already bought mine almost three years ago though, so I'm good.

vote-for-9vote-against

At first glance I thought this was a car battery. I was disappointed to find it wasn't.

vote-for12vote-against

It's a metal box but not a full-size ammo box. More like a half-size kid's lunch box.

vote-for8vote-against

@phortisque: Hell no. Cause that is a fake war.

vote-for5vote-against

I love this set. I love the metal tin too. The only problem I have with this set is that each of the DVD's is in a sleeve and can become a pain to organize if you are not careful. But I guess that is why this set is so cheap for so much content.

vote-for-4vote-against

In this set there is an incredibly bad/funny/pathetic Israeli made war movie that portrays all Arabs a dumb and evil, and all Israeli male and female soldiers as clear-eyed, devoted and highly skilled.

vote-for5vote-against

Got this for my husband last time it was up. He's been watching it regularly and really likes it. I think he's only to disk 4 or 5, but it will keep him occupied for some time.

vote-for8vote-against

Why is this on w00t sellout? ...because it never seems to. These movies keep coming back. Over and over and over... Come to think of it, I haven't seen dyson in a bit.

vote-for8vote-against

My grandfather is going to dig this. 90 year old WWII vet with a bad attitude. Thanks, Woot.

vote-for4vote-against

Ordered this for my step dad. I think he will love this.

vote-for1vote-against

@roni24 ~ it's made of real metal like the one in the military.

vote-for2vote-against

Got this last it was on woot for my Mommy, can't wait to give this to her on her birthday! I know lots of review say video sucks on some but I'm sure any war buff wont mind. Knowledge is power!

vote-for6vote-against

@radi0j0hn: As opposed to the US-made movies that make our enemies out as "dumb and evil"? And as opposed to EVERYTHING Arab that portrays all Jews as greedy, baby-eating devils? Do you ever complain about either of those things? You should see how the US armed forces are portrayed in museums in Vietnam!

vote-for4vote-against

@smainzer: HEAR HEAR! well put my good chap.

vote-for1vote-against

@drchops:
lol I knew it would get downvoted, I just didn't know it would get downvoted THAT hard.

vote-for1vote-against

@cowboydann: I just totally responded to myself while trying to talk to you. ^ that was meant for you.

Also, way to respond like I'm just some strange a-hole that you don't know saying mean things for no reason :). Well played. Brava good sir. Brava.

(just actually looked at the +/- for that comment.. FIFTEEN DOWNVOTES lol.)

vote-for4vote-against

I bought this during the wootoff.

It is a staggering amount of content, but it's all really old or really bad stuff. The documentaries on the first disc are just unwatchable. So absolutely boring.

Basically, this is from Mill Creek, the same company that releases all those 50 Movie Packs of similarly public domain films.

Don't expect Saving Private Ryan out of this. But if you're a film/war buff, you can find some enjoyment.

vote-for1vote-against

Got this when it was last on about a month ago. Great gift for my dad who is a Vietnam Vet who loves the History channel. So whereas I would be nodding off, he is riveted.

vote-for2vote-against

@drchops: >Implying you're not some strange A-hole.
>Implying we're friends
>Implying greentext on Deals.woot

Just kidding, I love ya pal! Congratz on continuing to get a lot of downvotes.

vote-for1vote-against

I suggest all of you watch the Israli war movie before you comment further. The scene with the Arab terrorists trying oload an active A-Bomb on a truck is straight out of the Keystone Cops.

vote-for1vote-against

Bought these for my mom last time. She remembers the home front in WWII first hand and has liked most of the movies and watched them in order. The can is neat about 3/4 size tin ammo can replica. As for organizing the paper sleeved disks, the disks are numbered and can be seen through a clear center of the sleeve. If my 80+ year old technophobe mom can keep them in order the rest of Wootdom shouldn't have a problem!

vote-for-6vote-against

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY DAD!!!! I got you this great set of DVD's. Let's sit down and watch a while. Wow! That's great footage of the attack on Pearl Harbor! Dad!?! Dad!?! What are you doing with your cane? No, it's not a flame thrower. Mom! Something's wrong with dad!

This year, for Father's Day, why not induce his PTSD?

vote-for2vote-against

@lola4028: Pretty funny, you should write for Leno.

vote-for1vote-against

Bought it, have it, love it. Amazing value. Perfect end of the day last tv show!

vote-for2vote-against

@cowboydann: with that kind of material he probably does already

vote-for0vote-against

I want to have "America Stories of War". How can I do now? Contact me, please, if it still available.

vote-for1vote-against

@tlamhp: Wait for the next Woot-off.

I think Sam's Club and Costco carries these as well (besides, of course, AAAAAMMMMMAAAAAAAZZZZZZZOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!).
