I own this and the 700 remote. The only real difference is the ability to charge the 700 via USB or I use my cell phone charger. They really are great universal remotes to have and I love how mine controls my Xbox so I don't have to use the controller.

Setting it up is a bit tricky for new people but once you are done, there's no messing with it again unless you are adding/removing things. The 700 holds 6 items and this one holds 4 or 5. Either way, I have 3 different Panasoinc TV's in my house and it just takes up 1 slot. It's great for getting rid of the Apple TV remote and other small remotes that can be lost easily.

Dammit! I really wanted to get one. I have one for the bedroom but need one for the living room. A small pain to setup but once it is, it's smart enough to make some complicated A/V setups easy to use. Sometimes it's too smart, like when you use the sleep timer on your TV. The remote still thinks the TV is still on since it didn't turn the TV off. Help button walks through fixes really well though. I'll have to keep an eye out for these again.

This is like the 880, which I've had for several years, but only supports 5 devices. It's a killer remote. Make sure you install the Harmony software on your PC so you get macro/sequence capability, which comes in surprisingly handy.

I don't know what happened. When I commented the first time the link didn't work so I tattled on it. Now the link is working. Glad I came back and rechecked. Definitely in for one.

I got one. Well, another one. I've had a 650 for the bedroom HTPC set up for a few years now and its been great. I tried to go with a cheaper 620 for the living room HTPC set up but the keys are laid out completely different so its annoying to use. I'd rather just pick up another 650

Based on all the comments here, I'm in for one. I have an old Harmony xbox remote, but the screen is almost unreadable and it has lots of old bite marks from when my dog was little. Its time. I like this remote over the rechargable ones. I've read that they need a recharge every week.

so i went to the harmony webpage to see about downloading the software for it since dailysteals doesnt include it and the page asks which of 2 software was used to set up the harmony remote. either myharmony.com or harmony remote software. how are we supposed to find out which one was used initially? is it going to be an issue? i want to jump the gun on this but dont want to run itno some issue down the road that will render my remote useless!

@mrjean: I use the harmony remote software (v7, I think). Works fine.

@mrjean: that only matters if you've already programmed the remote. It's so the software can retrieve your stored settings. Use the client software on your PC, not the web version. It supports more features. The worst thing that would happen if you changed software later is that all your programming would be erased. The harmony software stores your settings under your user name on their server. So even if you change computers, you just reinstall the software, login, and you're all set. It also allows you to transfer your programming to a new remote if your old one breaks.
