FYI.. just because you order it doesn't mean you'll get it.

Reminder: these people promised free knives and didn't deliver anything but spam mail.

The inmates at your local prison make better knives than this one. Contact a friend who is confined it may only cost you 3 cigarettes.

I saw this and thought it would be perfect for a friend's upcoming birthday, but decided I would rather buy through Amazon after I tried to get that $6 off your next order, fine print on that offer is that your order must be more than $60 dollars I then proceeded to unsubscribe.

A seller has it for the same price + $4.49 in shipping, slightly cheaper.

Same knife and everything.

Man, that BUDK knife looks vaguely familiar... Sort of exactly like this one:

http://www.dealextreme.com/p/stainless-steel-knife-with-whistle-sheath-color-assorted-17-0cm-knife-length-50596

Only this one is $4.10 shipped, or roughly half as much. Of course, you would need to live with the fact that this one is stamped as "Smith & Wesson" instead of BUDK, and would need to wait the 15 or so days for it to arrive from HK.

I started considering it, then I saw the shipping. No thanks.

@xmonster: I expect to actually receive what I paid for. I don't think that is too much to ask.

Great idea! A lanyard so I can always have my knife right by my throat :)-

@grimskull89: Notice no where in that DX listing does it say Smith & Wesson except for in the photos.... makes me think the Manufacturer is making some money on the side or they're just stamped without royalties and they don't want Google Keywords from DX leading it back to them, so they're not mentioned.

@hyside

Smith & Wesson is too mainstream, BUDK seems more compatible with my Adele fetish and Macbook Pro

These guys are super sleazy and will spam you with catalogs full of Nazi merch.

RUN, DO NOT WALK, FROM BUDK!

vote-for3vote-against

I keep seeing people bash Budk... I've never had a problem with them. True, their knives may not be top quality but what do you expect at that price??

vote-for3vote-against

I actually have this knife- tossed one in my cart when I was ordering the Predator mask for a friend with dreads. It's not bad. I had one years ago (also from budk) but lost it. I never used it for more than cutting boxes open, but the lanyard is handy- (it's plenty long so it hangs low) because it allows you to free up your hands if you're moving stuff and don't want to fish in your pockets or have something on your belt that can scratch things if you're moving. It's light-weight, it's a cheap knife, oh, and a whistle. You get what you pay for.

Didn't realize dealextreme had them as well... so if I lose my current one, I'll just replace it from them. :-)

“Neck knife.” Just drips with irony...

I have a couple of these, they're of decent quality. Their regular shipping borders on gouging but several times a year they'll have one cent shipping for a 3-5 day period which you'll be notified of if you are on their mailing list. Typically they send out one email a week of various sale items.

@captainsuperdawg: They never offered or promised entirely free knives. There was an glitch in their cart that allowed you to add the coupon code for the free knives without adding something else to your purchase (as the coupon was intended to work). Accordingly, the ability to add this code with an empty cart (and as a result, to get these knives for free) was an error. Someone posted this error to Deals.Woot.

Per their terms & conditions:
“BUDK reserves the right at any time after receipt of your order to accept or decline your order, or any portion thereof, even after your receipt of an order confirmation from BUDK. BUDK reserves the right to limit the order quantity on any item. In the event that a product is listed at an incorrect price due to supplier pricing information or typographical error, BUDK shall have the right to refuse or cancel orders placed for the product listed at the incorrect price, regardless of whether the order has been confirmed & your credit card charged.”

BudK knives are absolutely junk. You have been warned.

@regentswift: Re-enactors have to get their stuff from somewhere. I despise nazis as much as the next half-jew, but have friends who are true "don't tread on me" patriots who realize that by re-enacting they can bring history to life by re-creating battles- which as we all know can catch a person's interest in the subject. Also, they wind up in movies that way as extras... It's not that they're communist Russians, Nazi scum, Confederate Rebels, or what have you... they're just dressing up and putting on a show for people. Sure, there are probably some neo-nazis who buy stuff so they can build a shrine to hitler and bide their time for some new reich, but there are crazies everywhere. I seriously doubt that the majority of purchasers are such people. Rather, I would tend to think they are collectors or re-enactors. While I've never bought copy nazi items from Bud-k, I have bought other knives- cheap yes, but I've always gotten what I've paid for.

vote-for1vote-against

Oh no, don't bring up the Nazi merch. Last time I did that it started a $hitstorm.

@jmbunkin: It'll be more like 3 cartons with prison inflation, plus smuggling fees (both smuggling the knife out and the cigarettes in) and snitch insurance. For just a pack, you could visit a prisoner and learn how to make your own shiv.

vote-for1vote-against

The shipping costs too much, more expensive than the product.
