Great deal, but I would never buy from this company again. Bought an SSD with a mail in rebate from them back in August...didn't receive it from them until after the period when I could send the rebate in. That $20 I lost killed the deal.

Took 6 weeks to get my item and it was damaged. Still waiting for call tag, 9 weeks after buying. Caution.

@bearcatrr: If the rebate was advertised by 1saleaday, insist them to make good on the offer since they delayed and invalidate the offer. They should either accept the item back and refund or send you the difference.

Next time if something like this happens, just send the rebate form before the due date... they will flag it for missing UPC code and you can mail or fax that later when having the package.

Hm. Not discrediting any of the other people's buying experiences, but I've bought from them many times before (ranging from small items all the way through desktop computers) always without any issue. YMMV.

Agree on sloooow shipping from this company. I've also had them charge my credit card and then refund weeks later as the item was unavailable. Nice way to get money interest free. I'd order from Amazon next time.

Slow to ship is kind, any slower this group would be moving backwards. Now am going on week 3 waiting to receive a shipment. They have taken the $$ for the items, so they have had the benefit of the funds without delivering the goods. This is not the first time, however this is the worst performance to date. Ought to be interesting to see how the refund dance plays out, will be asking for a refund if the items are not shipped by Friday this week.

As for the Roku:
I enjoy mine. It has some neat features and the ability to stick a USB Thumb Drive in the side and watch digital videos is pretty nice. My family likes playing Angry Birds on it.

IMPORTANT NOTES: You will have to set up an account with Roku (and validate with a credit card or PayPal). This is because of two reasons: (1) They sell a lot of channels and services, and (2) they track and sell everything you do on the device and they want to know exactly who owns it. Their privacy agreement is atrocious! Do not expect to have any privacy with this device at all.

As for 1SaleADay: Expect slow shipping. They seem to order in bulk based on the number of orders they receive from customers. You will notice they often sell items cheaper than other online sellers are featuring the item (like this deal beating DailySteal.com's price today)...their methods seem to work for them if you don't mind waiting a while longer for you items.

@wootmatthew: They are two different models. I don't believe the XD has the Angry Birds game, the XS does, hence the price difference. I have a Roku and I like it very much. Considering upgrading to the XS model on dailysteals.com.

I have the Roku 1 and love it (although sometimes it seems to load pretty slow). Is there any reason to upgrade to Roku 2?

vote-for1vote-against

@cbellono: You can buy many different Angry Birds games on any Roku. The same way in which subscribe to channels. If the you are only considering the other the the difference of the one free game, then save the money since Angry Birds games are less than $5 each (from what I remember).

@wootmatthew I think what @cbellono was referring to is the Roku 2 XS's Motion Control for games. It let's you control games like Angry Birds similar to that of a Wii controller. Playing Angry Birds on the Roku 2 XD would require using the d-pad on the controller and wouldn't be much fun imo.

The 3 things that you can get in the $99 Roku 2 XS that you can't get in this Roku 2 XD are:

1) Motion Control for games
2) Free copy of Angry Birds
3) Ethernet port

The ethernet port was the deal sealer when I bought my Roku 2 XS. The motion control and angry birds sound cool but I think I've actually only played it on the Roku once. Any time I feel like playing I break out the ipad.

The Roku product is great, we have the Angry Birds Edition and nothing like bustin' stuff up with birds on a 46" HD (way better than my i-phone). I use Pandora, HBO Go, Amazon VOD the most. Delays from 1saleaday are to be expected and while frustrating, they own up to that reputation and back it up with the ability to offer low prices. This is why I make purchase from many places. If I need it quick, Amazon with Prime, if price is the driver and not delivery time, woot is great and associates like 1saleaday are considered.

I have bought a few items from them and have been very happy with the products but I agree the shipping is crazy slow. Last two orders I was just about to call and complain or at least make sure that my order was real and I didn't just dream it and boom they showed up that day. They do not communicate very well - I had to check my credit card statement to see when they billed me/shipped. On the plus side it is so long that you can forget that you ordered it and get a nice surprise!

Tried to order this this morning and kept getting an error message that the order couldn't be processed to try again in a couple of minutes. So I waited a couple of minutes and tried again. Same message. Tried again. Same message. Tried a couple more times, same message each time. Thinking that maybe something was wrong with my card, I went to my bank site and see 5 pending charges. To say the least,I'm just a little irritated. Sent them an email, no 800 number, asking them to correct this. I've ordered from them before and haven't had any problems other than very slow shipping.

Have bought a bunch of stuff from 1 sale a day and until lately didn't have too much problems receiving them, the last couple months it has been horrible! Purchased a comforter in beginning of Sept. got it last week! Really?! Left a ton of emails and the response was always, no tracking available, item shipped. I even requested a refund and was told no refunds after sale processed. I would not buy if you need before Christmas!!

vote-for1vote-against

The last item I bought from them was ordered Sunday Oct 28th. Much to my surprise it arrived on Monday Nov 5th. I would normally agree that there ship times are slow but after my last order I was thinking maybe they were getting in together.

I stream through my blu-ray so i am unfamiliar with the Roku box. I am looking at getting one for my parents and in-laws for Christmas. I was wondering if they are simple enough for them to figure out the basics. Also can you stream fox News for free? (in laws would love that). I have some channels like HGTV and what not listed and can't quite figure out if they are free or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I ordered the Roku 2 XS from onesaleaday (as advertised here) on 11/1. Two days later I received an email that a UPS ticket had been created. Since then, nothing.... Not picked up yet, I guess.

I have had mixed success with the delivery times. Some items I actually received within days. One took more than 7 weeks. Most fall somewhere in between.

However, I have never had a problem with the merchandise I received and had no need to return anything.

So, if you don't mind waiting a bit, it has been my experience that onesaleaday has been very good as far as online companies go.

@sarisin: Also ordered that Roku XS deal. Looks like 1saleday is shipping UPS SurePost which is apparently their equivalent to Fedex SmartPost. Same deal where UPS must coordinate with USPS for final delivery. I wonder if, like smartpost, the UPS system updates are unreliable as to item location/delivery date. One can hope they haven't just been sitting in the warehouse with shipping labels all week but based on reputation of 1sale maybe that is the case...

You could also wait until Black Friday and get a new one at Best Buy for $39.99 - but it's the 720p model:

They've usually been on the slowish side for me, but never anything really objectionable (maybe a couple weeks tops at their worst), just that my prime account has me spoiled. However, I ordered a water distiller from them the other day and got it in less than 4 days. Works good too.
