lol figures, just bought this last week for 14.99 plus shipping from another site. sigh..

vote-for16vote-against

I got one from a different woot deal - ironically just came the other day. I think my price was $8.99 + shipping + a memory card I bundled with it which made it about $18 shipped.

Don't expect miracles from something this small and cheap., but the video and sound quality is really quite good for its size/price. I'm going to use it to place on some RC models as well as some model rockets.

@tsfisch: you are right, thats the one I got too. I thought it was more then that. thanks, makes me feel better, I got mine on Saturday. wonder where I got that 14.99 stuck in my head from.

i just recently got one... not all that great, but i might rig it up on my bicycle or dirtbike for fun. Would NOT buy again.

Bought it off of amazon last time it came here on deals.woot. Got it for 12 something including shipping. Arrived the other day and was pleasently surprised. Easy to control and the directions didn't take long to figure out. Great picture on it. Camera that is built in tilts upwards so you have to adjust filming angle as needed. Transfers from memory stick no problem, but memory stick gets stuck in the machine so it is easiest using a cord to get stuff off, than removing and risking breaking it. Recommend getting it on amazon from a trusted seller. Apparently there are different versions of these being sold by different 3rd party sellers. Mine came with attachments, case, cord and wall charger. I got lucky.

This site looks like a sister site of gearxs.com. I bought this about 2 weeks ago, with the 16Gb card, for the same price. (Looks like they raised the price to $70 which is ridiculous)

If you buy it, check out the youtube videos on it to learn how to set the time (creating a TAG.txt file on mem card), and how to NOT lose the mem card inside it (apparently some people insert the card at an angle and they miss the actual card slot and they end up just jamming the card internally into the device).

Bought 2 a few weeks ago when on woot through GearXS.. both came in 2 weeks later (finally) and neither will stay on long enough to take any video. The manuals are terrible and don't explain much. I suggest reading the reviews on amazon for same item. Currently, I am trying to send them back.

vote-for8vote-against

I started to buy this until I got to their "register" page. If I use Paypal, that should be enough. Why these vendors insist on getting all your info for spam purposes is a joke. Cheap price yes, getting their emailed ads forever, NO.

vote-for8vote-against

@getpartsmart: Don't know if this applies, but if you turn the power on, then press the MODE button on the other side, it puts it into sound activated recording, and will only record for 2 minutes once a certain sound level activates it.
I agree the manual is terrible. I learned how to operate it by searching "MD 80 Mini DV" on youtube.

vote-for4vote-against

Does anybody know how much recording time per GB of memory card?

vote-for4vote-against

I got this exact same model and I don't think it's easy to use. The LED lights that indicate if it is on or recording are recessed way inside the device and not very bright. If you use it outside, you'll spend 5 minutes trying to figure out if it's on and recording.

vote-for5vote-against

@blainekyle miniDV is also a type of video format as well as a storage medium. It is a rather confusing title to use miniDV in the description of a device that actually uses micro SD cards.

vote-for5vote-against

The description makes it sound as if the camera will sit in standby for days at a time waiting for a "sound" to activate it but it only sat idle for about 20min for me then turned off. No longer responded to sounds after that.

Video quality is actually pretty good for the price. Only accepts up to 8gb microSD cards.

vote-for5vote-against

Nice "spy" camera; quality is decent for the size and price of the device. Instructions are horribly translated. Here are some sample lines:

"2.) Use adaptor: connect charger plug with USB cable, then plug into electrical connector receptacle, it can be charged. When you charge it, blue light and red light with bright simultaneously, of which states are stillness."

"Long press the operation button, and then connect the power. Now don't press the operation button, the machine into standby mode. And then short press the operation button, the machine into taking video mode, while charging."

I got two of these from GearXS a couple of weeks ago, neither will power on and no responses from GearXS.

I was really looking forward to playing with them.

vote-for3vote-against

@getpartsmart: Me, too. If I don't hear from them by next week, I'm contacting my credit card company.

vote-for7vote-against

@lisaviolet: Did you try the reset? I had the same problem about no power light of any kind, but after I pushed the reset it worked fine.

vote-for3vote-against

I, like others, got one from gearxs a couple of weeks ago. It came and works, I guess. It has pretty good video, much better than you'd think and the sound quality was actually excellent. I only got 9 min of video out of it's first charge, but I can't figure out when it's fully charged (read the manual excerpt above). Anyways, if you want a surprisingly high quality, miniature, camcorder then go for it. I plan on trying to crack the case and attaching a slightly larger battery, if I can get it up to 20-30 min of recording time I'll probably buy more if they ever show up again.

Bought a couple of these last month. Each had pieces missing or damaged.

vote-for4vote-against

@rampo: Hey, look! The light's on! Thanks, I think you fixed it!

vote-for4vote-against

Thanks to @rampo, doing the reset seemed to wake both cameras up. I'll charge them again and see how they do.

Going to Disneyland next month, thinking these might be fun on rides.

vote-for3vote-against

Heck. I'll give it a shot. Could be fun!

vote-for5vote-against

I went ahead and picked one up. Maybe I'll put it on the dog's collar and see what she's up to when I'm not around...

I'm pretty sure these are no name brand copies of this here:

http://www.veho-uk.com/main/shop_detail.aspx?article=44

Which I believe to be the original (not 100% sure) I have the Muvi brand and it works great. I took it on some roller coaster rides when I at Universal Studios it was a hoot. Youtube is blocked here, if I remember I'll post a link. I use the same screen name there so maybe someone can search. There is some info at that link which tells how long you can record etc, it may apply to the one for sale here.

vote-for5vote-against

@sully51: My bro was just asking what to use to catch his dog breaking into the fridge...fired off the link, then ordered mine!

vote-for2vote-against

I ordered this camera a few weeks ago on 1Sale, and so far the instructions make no sense. In fact I have no clue how to work the different modes via one button. Also, im not exactly sure when this thing is recording and the instructions mention a green light that I have yet to see. I only got two videos (on accident) and at least I know the day time quality is good. Goodluck if you buy one, I plan to keep it and view birds at the bird feeder.

Anyone have comments on dealings with this site? Someone said it might be related to gearxs.com and I've heard negative things about that one

vote-for3vote-against

I'm back, here are a few videos I took with a similar recorder (the MUVI)

@rampo: Good example of why it's a good idea to ask questions or make a comment, you get answers here ! Good one rampo

vote-for2vote-against

I just tried another test with my dealxs one and it got over an hour on probably a 85-90% charge. These are also easy to take apart, no hidden screws or tabs you have to break, great for robotics projects, etc.

vote-for1vote-against

The original Muvi sounds like a nice product, but OverHalf is selling low-grade knock-off junk. I received my order from them today and found the camcorder to be defective. I plug it into USB and it is not recognized by my computer, rendering it useless. I tried the reset button but it didn't help. Even the box looked cheap.

Avoid this particular deal like the plague.

Has anyone had a problem with this company overhalfsale? The tracking number I was giving has not been updated and now the website is down.

vote-for1vote-against

Site outage was temporary. I'll keep everyone updated

Arrived today! Works Great! USPS was the delay... not the seller.
