I use 4 of these to hold my media and out of the 4 I purchased over 2 years ago, 0 have failed or error and lost my data.

I wish I had the $ to buy a couple more of these to backup my data.

That's a great price for a 3TB external hard drive, and Western Digital Elements is a great, reliable brand. I'm confused about the MIR, though. The MIR expires 2/24/13, but it says you have 30 days to mail in the MIR. So, does that INCLUDE purchasing it by or on 2/24/13, and THEN having 30 days to mail it in from 2/24 to receive the $30.00?

I got one of these fior $109 including shipping from JR.com. I didn't get any rebate, but I guessing nobody will.

@coltbear50: Buy it by the 24th, then mail in the rebate within 30 days of purchase.

I can never understand why the external drives are always the ones on sale and can be easily obtained for cheaper than the internal drive. Take this apart and you'll get a WD Green WD30EZRX, which always seem to cost more than the external. Why can't they just sell an internal for $80-90 (external price minus $10-20)?

The flood that spiked HDD prices is long gone, but they're still refusing to drop the internal HDD prices.

I've been waiting so long to pull the trigger on a 3TB. Canceled my $99 Amazon order of the Seagate 3TB USB 3.0 external during Black Friday because I refused to pay for an external knowing that I would take it apart and shove it in my desktop (and the fact that they started taxing me in CA). I really hoped that they would drop internal prices by now, but it hasn't budged.

I am running 2 2TB WD externals and a WD 6TB external LiveDuo cloud drive, they are used constantly 24/7/365, and I have had nothing but the best of performance with them. I ripped every DVD I had (couple hundred) and every CD I had (couple thousand) to the 6TB, use it with WD Live TV boxes all over my house, and use the 2TB ones as mirror backups. I paid more than this for my 2TB's on Amazon, and would do it all again with no fear in a heartbeat if I had the spare sawbuck to buy this with. GREAT deal. In fact, it's killing me. Anyone got a spare hunnert I can borrow until payday?? :-)!!!

You can get this drive at B&H Photo for $109 with free shipping. That's only $5 more than this deal after shipping and you don't have to wait for the mail in rebate.
