Of course this "deal" won't include departing from the city you live in or any city close to yours or going to any city you actually want to go to or any city near that.

This is the classic, we need your information if you want to see the deals, then the old SOME DEALS ARE CHEAP IF you want to fly instead of drive 2 hours... here are the flights listed:

•New York City-Boston ... $44 each way ($109 R/T incl. tax)

Great!
WOOT! has turned into an information harvest and porn site!
If it ain't almost nude women, which all the 14 year-old members vote for, it's a site that harvests your personal information and sells it to OTHER porn dealers who send it to your email.

Time to tell Amazon.com where to jump off!

One way based on round trip purchase. And let's not forget the fine print:

Unless otherwise indicated, Companies listing fares on Travelzoo may not include all applicable taxes, charges and government imposed fees. The following overview has been prepared to give you an idea of what additional fees and taxes may apply.

Passenger Facility Charges (PFCs) of up to $18.00 USD may apply depending upon the itinerary chosen.

A federal excise tax of up to $3.40 USD does apply per flight segment, if this tax is not included already in the advertised fare.

A September 11th Security Fee of $2.50 USD applies per flight segment.

U.S. or international government imposed taxes and fee of up to $200.00 USD may apply depending upon the itinerary chosen.

Some travel companies or their agents may impose shipping and/or handling fees if you request paper tickets or for certain types of transactions.

Companies listing offers on Travelzoo may charge a service fee.

If you attempt to book one of those flights that claims to be $29, you click through more links, only to have the flights cost $109-200 each way, so the whole thing is fake.

Apparently this is just another example of "if it seems too good to be true ...".

Tried to buy one, linked me to some travel website saying the low fare was no longer available. Bait and switch, thanks.

...most of those flights are an afternoon drive. I mean, comeon, Sacramento to San Jose? Pittsburgh to New York?? ...okay, so maybe a bit more than just an afternoon drive, but still! They're probably all puddlejumper flights, which is why they're so damn cheap.

@jazcat: What a helpful list, thank you!

"A September 11th Security Fee of $2.50 USD applies per flight segment."

=

Paying them to harass you.

I subscribe to travelzoo emails and for someone who lives in North Caronlina the deals are always pretty good for flights up to NYC, across country not always a good deal but once in a while they might have something, it certainly doesn't hurt to subscribe - besides it is free and I use my throw away email address. So if you would rather FLY than waste gas, wear and tear, and your own personal stress driving a single occupancy vehicle on our already congested freeways these are pretty good deals.

Yeah the bargains might be great at these large hubs but what about some of us that live out in the sticks with a 'Hooterville' airport ? I live in Bloomington, Ill. with only a few direct flights out of our regional airport. Anywhere I want to go I have to route through Chicago or St. Louis which adds on another $150 to the price of the ticket. What's really funny is if I drive an hour south and fly from our state capitols' crappy airport, my ticket ends up being about $50 cheaper.

Heh, I'm a TravelZoo "stockholder". When they started up in the 90's, they had a gimmick deal where you could sign up for a few worthless "stocks" for free, which were registered in another country. Basically it was a way to get you on a mailing list so they could get you to see their deals each week (and then they'd encourage you to support "your" company). Later on they actually did convert the 'worthless' stocks to slightly-less-but-still-pretty worthless US traded stocks. So if they skyrocket someday, maybe my 5 stocks will make me rich? On that note, EVERYBODY BUY THESE DEALS! :)

Brilliant and booked! The site travel zoo took me to was actually pretty spiffy - it even includes the flight prices including taxes in the search - so $117 is really how much the flight costs at the check out.

The $29 flight is always a leprichaun. Went in and it says "the $99 flight is no longer available." Reminds me of a joke. $5? what do you wanna borrow $2 for?!?
