@davidschronic: though I think there are some that are anti-soldier. Odd concept. Anti-war I can work with, but anti-soldier I don't get.

As someone who is in the military and deals with deployments, I'm personally grateful for those who chose to participate in this, even if I don't see the result myself. Speaking from experience, it gets lonely at times, especially since a great many deployments are to hostile fire areas.

It isn't fun being woken up at 3AM by mortar fire or a base alert. Nor is it fun to be in a desert where it's 100 degrees in the day and 30 degrees at night. (Your body doesn't get used to the weather as quick as it changes and you pretty much go into shock by nightfall). It sucks to rarely get facetime at home via webcam, and even when you do it's at midnight due to hour differences back home.

Any little sign of home, of the country we go out to defend for whatever reason (loyalty, family, protecting loved ones, hell...even the ones who just join for a paycheck) is a giant comfort, which is incredibly hard to imagine for those who haven't experienced a deployment.

I contributed to pay it forward.

@psumek: my sentiment exactly. Anti Soldier?!? Disgusting.

vote-for-7vote-against

@davidschronic: well, you're sentiments may in large part be due to propaganda that you aren't even aware of. When thinking free of cultural programming, it's not entirely difficult to empathize with both the anti-war and the anti-soldier crowd.

Some people don't appreciate their money being taken without their consent to fund the killing of strangers, and the people who keep signing up for the job only help to perpetuate the immorality of it all.

Just take a second to think unemotionally from another person's shoes. Here is some thinking from Albert Einstein:

"The pioneers of a warless world are the young men and women who refuse military service."

Just a thought to provide a different perspective.

I might also add, if you choose not to go for this particular deal, but have a local USO office, please stop by with a small donation for them. A greater part of your donation will be used locally and will deeply appreciated.

@lothariorowe: Einstein eh? You mean the German who ran from the Nazis, hiding behind American soldiers? He could have stayed in Germany, we could not have fought back, and then he would be dead...but at least we would have peace right? Fewer Jews, scientists, etc...but peace.

If you don't like something about our country, then you're welcome to leave. In fact, I encourage it. Get the hell out of the country I fought for and love.

@firebirdude: yes! that's the type of intellectual thinking we need to create a better world for our children!

@lothariorowe:

this is the truth and some will not like it

The recent wars have been not for freedom and justice for all but for something else...

@lothariorowe: Good on you. There wouldn't be a war if there weren't shoulders

"If you don't like something about our country, then you're welcome to leave. In fact, I encourage it. Get the hell out of the country I fought for and love."

@firebirdude: Loving the country doesn't mean silencing dissenters. That's not what freedom is about.

@lothariorowe: The missions thaat are undertaken by our Armed Forces aare directed by a kosher lobby and an in-experienced puppet CIC! We should be protecting the populace fron terrorist, eliminating the terrorists, and defending the border, not in Afghanistan, but Mexico. Our troops should not be used as mercenaries.......

It is the Soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the Soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to demonstrate.
It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.

I'd also like to propose this:

If everyone posts their referral link when they buy this deal and 3 people buy using that link, the initial purchase will be free.

I can't speak for anyone else, but if I get 3 click through's, I will purchase an additional one.

SO...that means twice as many soldiers get a little something than would have! I encourage others to do the same.

Feel free to click my link and thank you to all who have served!

@yosh: Actually the soldier is merely a tool of the government. The soldier, when directed to do so, is quite capable of taking those things away, as he has done in the past.

@thecheeseman: Your rights were won by soldiers and are protected by soldiers. The US Soldier has never overthrown his government or the Constitution, the foundation of those rights.
