Misting systems work great in hot dry places like Arizona. Go ahead and pass if you live in Missouri. Unless you like being hot and wet. :)

So pay for shipping and get a gift card for the price of shipping? It's like getting it free, except you need to spend $5 to buy the item you purchase with the $5 gift card, right?

@liquidblue1: I'm from MO and I thought it looked promising? Why would you say no too this?

vote-for12vote-against

@cindihoward: In moist places a mister just makes you more wet but not cooler. You could effectivly use a sprinkler to do that, but in a dry place it actually cools the air and evaporates fast enough to not leave you all wet.

Now I'm curious to know how much two mist sprayers and a length of tubing runs at ye local hardware shoppe.

Im assuming this connects to a garden hose? or ?

@rleav20717: Scroll to the bottom of the page for a full description, including "Attaches directly to a standard garden hose or spigot (3/4”)"

@gionot Why scroll when I have you? Thank you!

@cindihoward: The last time I did one of these $5 gift card deals at 13 Deals, I was surprised to get emailed an Amazon $5 gift card the next day. Applied to my Amazon account, I was able to use it on an order that qualified for free Super Saver shipping (haven't sprung for Prime yet). I'm not sure why they aren't more specific about what kind of gift card they'll be sending, and I wouldn't count on it being Amazon, but I just thought I'd put my experience out there for what it's worth.

I've used similar misters, and liked them. Especially when we've had people over during the summer for a BBQ.

@liquidblue1: @nielsen91: I live in Iowa and the amusement park uses a misting machine that I found it refreshing. But yes I did walk away damp.

All those pics and not a one of the actually misting system. I smell a rat....

I have a portable one of these.. basically.. a Misty Mate.. they ROCK.. I take mine on my walks/jos in the middle of the summer with ice cubes in the container to keep me cool. Works perfect and it actually held quite a bit of misting water. Not sure how the garden hose variety compares.

Simple, cheap, I'm in for one... oh and a nice wall sconce, too! http://www.13deals.com/product_detail.php?id=22886

If you used one of these here in Florida attached to a chair (like in the pictures) you'd end up soaking wet. In fact with the humidity what it is here (and in a good many other places) this would only be good if you mounted them in tandem with a fan to keep the air moving. As others have said, evaporative cooling doesn't work so well in moist environments.

Anyone know if you can make this portable or if there is something like it that makes it portable? (the water source)

vote-for1vote-against

@ahefner33: You can get various types of water bottles that come with misters. This is the first one I came up with at Amazon. MistyMate makes several portable personal misters including this bigger one for camping.

@rhinoceros1: If you watch 13 Deals, they have items with free shipping fairly often. I have a $5 coupon from their after-Christmas webcast and it is also good at Pets.13 Deals and That Daily Deal, so I've been keeping an eye on all of them. I've come close to using it a few times, but I keep thinking something better will come along....

@gionot: That's really cool you got a Amazon gift card. I have done these deals several times and have recieved a 13deals gift card.

vote-for1vote-against

@conanthelibrarian: I was really surprised to get the Amazon card, and now I'm starting to think it was a mistake on their end since others are getting 13Deals coupons. An Amazon card is certainly more flexible, so guess I was lucky.

I bought something previously on 13deals and received a $5 coupon code for that website. I tried to use it today so that I could get this for free with free shipping, but apparently the $5 coupon code is used only for the items and cannot be applied to shipping.

In case that has any influence on your purchase...

Did anyone ever receive their order?
