I got my SIM card last week. It came quickly and I'm now searching for a decent blocked phone to put it in. If anyone has any suggestions p,ear let me know.

Unlimited Data*

* First 2GB

What?

@stevether: Sounds like you'll have your data throttled after 2 GB.

If you got an old phone that needs a sim to see the content, and you're too lazy to find the cable to connect it to your computer, this will work. I put it in my old Razr, and was able to access my photos and bluetooth that shit to my computer.

Got this last time and just used it for a friend that was visiting from Germany. Set up on the website was painless. Seems to be working fine.

Anyone know what the coverage is like or what areas they have service? I know a lot of smaller services share the bigger companies' networks; do they share with tmobile/att? The website doesn't seem to have much information on it.

I found their coverage map at http://givmobile.com/support/coverage it looks a lot like Tmobile's map, so I'm guessing they share that network.

@steven009: they use the T-mobile network. The parent company of Givmobile is P-Tel. I wrote them with some tech support questions the other day and never heard back, so I'm wondering about the quality of their customer support. That being said I'm not a paying customer yet so maybe that is where they focus their customer support.

@stevether: the first 2-GB is at the 4G speed and thereafter is throttled back but remains unlimited. Sounds like a decent deal plus you give 8% a month to charity. I wish I could do that with all of my monthly bills.

On my first comment I meant to type I am looking for a good deal on an unlocked phone. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Sorry for all of the typos.

Pretty good deal as it's the same prices as the no-contract plans directly from Tmobile, plus you're donating to charity. I'm already on Tmobile so the only thing holding me back is the possibility that I may want to change to unlimited high speed for $70 in the future (instead of being throttled after 2gb), so I'm on the fence.

does anyone know how this compares to ptel? I currently have ptel and it's only costing me about $40 every 2 months

I checked the coverage map... Live in a big city or along a major interstate? Then you should be good to go. Go driving off the interstate or out away from a larger city and coverage will be minimal (cell only) or limited (to lower cell/3G speeds).

Just wondering if anyone ever got a free sim card from this? I got an email that said "Thank you for signing up. We will notify you as the service nears its launch." but I haven't heard anything since...
