@roadrunner2600: I remember when I worked at Best Buy they had the 55D6000 for $1499 regular price, on sale for $1099 on Black Friday. One of the Doorbusters was the 55D6003 for $999. I think we had less than 10 in stock for the sale. The models were IDENTICAL on all specs except instead of 4 HDMI inputs, it had 2. That model was made specifically for the Black Friday sale. I think HHGreggs model was the 55D6005. That allows the retailers to exclude their price match policies and pinch pennies and give you slightly less than you expected. But still a deal in this case if the situation worked for you. If you wanted 4 HDMI ports we sold an adapter for $99 LOL

Not saying thats true for everything, but there's a specific example.

Can anyone point me to some reviews of this? So far I have not been able to find any.

vote-for1vote-against

that review link is for a LN5400, not 5100. I can't even find this model on LG's site

@jjcool00: You aren't quite right, what actually happens is this: stores that move super-high volumes of a given product will negotiate with the manufacturer to make a store-specific model. Costco does this type of thing regularly.

I believe this is the guts of the 32LN5100, which is 32", with the 49.5" screen. Thus the 50LN5100 is born.

Just guessing.

@mrc131: I got too many windows for a Plasma. Need the LEDs. Put one on layaway at Walmart today. Going to have to figure out where to hide the thing between the 13th and 25th. Not a small box.

A little research: If this is the guts of the 42LN5100 or 32LN5100 with a 50" screen, then it's a good TV, but...

There are only 2 HDMI, a component, USB, and an analog audio out.
They are located on the back of the TV.

I purchased this TV the other day for $476 Total (including tax).

There is 1 HDMi port & 1 USB port on the left side of the TV. Rest of the inputs are on the back, facing straight up (so you can easily plug cables in)

Overall.. The TV is very good in quality and build. A plus is that the LG lighted logo turns off, so you don't have a constant memory of the company while watching The Hobbit in Blu-ray. (looking at you Vizio)

As mentioned before it's not a smart TV. But then again I don't need these functions - a decent blu ray player, Roku or even game console will support Netflix, Amazon Video, etc with a better interface IMO.

I just purchased this TV yesterday at a Wal Mart in Aurora, CO. They had plenty in stock (around 10-15 on shelves) when I purchased it. $448 plus tax came out to about $484. Good deal!

@prat09: The Sharp, if you're talking about the one in Best Buy, is actually a rebadged Insignia (Best Buy house brand).

Get the LG.

vote-for0vote-against

this is not a Smart TV. Best buy has same size Smart TV for same price.

@roadrunner2600: You're probably right as well, but I unfortunately worked for one of these very large retailers (won't name names) in the corporate office for years and I know for a fact that what I stated went on regularly as well.

Guys I also bought this TV 2 days back but now I see another deal for Sharp 50inches TV(not smart) for $432(including tax) .

The LG tv has a return policy and I can't decide if I should return this LG and get the sharp one.

Anybody has any opinion as to what should I do ?

I don't know if LG is better or Sharp

@namorama: woah..really.,..what does a rebadged mean? it was insignia but is sold as sharp ?

And I have the LG :) thanks for the advice

Just bought this LG 50" led tv last night at walmart... $448. Never having owned a flat screen tv but having watched plenty, this one is is the best bet for the money. Size and picture. The confusion about the 60hz or 120hz ought to be cleared up, it is a 120hz with triple xd engine. I am very critical of electronics especially when im spending money, and let me tell you to sit back and watch the picture quality there will be nothing you can complain about. I used the picture wizard and it looks excellent. Not sure about the best buy deal, but this one is real and wont last.

@samarthur: And you won't. A lot of the tvs stores like this carry are either remanufacturered by the manufacturer or "refurbished" or dumbed down models of the higher end editions sold specifically in that store. I also noticed that when you click on warranty info - nothing comes up. All set.

51" Samsung Plasma at HHGreg for $530, much better deal for a higher quality TV with superior picture.
