To this day my garbage disposal STILL has never turned on by itself, but I am ALWAYS vigiliant any time the need arises for me to stick my hand down there.

@riverzendz: i used to watch this while playing with My Little Pony dolls >.>

@pcapowski: Nice!
This was my favorite part from Wiki: "King himself described the film as a "moron movie" and stated his intention to never direct again soon after."

Just awesome.

@woothulhu: What does he have to do with Maximum Overdrive? Now, Emilio Estevez on the other hand...

AC/DC did the soundtrack.

It's Steven King.

Emilio Estevez is in it (He was Billy the Kid).

It has a demonic ice cream truck and a soda machine that kills people by firing cans at them.

If you don't like this movie you are a sissy who should stick with your My Little Pony dolls.

I love this movie! I use to watch this growing up. Easily one of my favorites.
So cheesy, such bad acting, but great music and cool deaths. What can you expect from Stephen King's first movie?

@wickedd365: (from wiki) that he was "coked out of [his] mind all through its production, and [he] really didn't know what [he] was doing."
and i still enjoyed it.

I can't help but start singing "Who made who" whenever I think of this movie.

@xpatvoytkox: No. The story was this. i just copied it from IMDB
"While shooting the scene where the steamroller rampages across the baseball diamond, Stephen King requested that the SFX department place a bag of fake blood near the dummy of a young player who would be run over by it. The desired effect would be that a smear of blood would appear on the steamroller and be re-smeared on the grass over and over, like a printing press. While filming the scene, however, the bag of blood exploded too soon and sprayed everywhere, making it appear as if the boy's head had also exploded. King was thrilled with the results, but censors demanded the shot be cut. "

Still epic.

@smtatertot13: Which is fine if you like the movie. But if you don't like the movie you can't do both.

Amazon has it for $5.38 with free shipping. So not a bad deal! http://tinyurl.com/47haza2

@riverzendz: LOL, busted. I got all excited about M.O. and forgot who the hell was in it. /hangs head

Kurt Russel still would have made this film even better

The main thing that bugged me about this movie was the face on the 'lead' truck. Just a really lazy plot device to make the truck appear more antagonistic. With good direction, you can make ANYTHING appear menacing and create suspense.

@tcayer: I agree...a perfect example would be Steven Spielberg's Duel. You could also say the same thing about the Creeper's truck and horn from Jeepers Creepers.

not sure if this is true or not, but legend has it that originally during the steamroller scene there was suppose to be a blood streak after it ran over the child. stephen king sent this cut over to george romero/tom savani and apparently george romero threw up after watching it. this pleased stephen king so much, but ultimately due to the mpaa they had to leave it on the cutting room floor.
