Portal 2 on Steam 66% off for $6.79
Metascore: 95/100
Portal 2 draws from the award-winning formula of innovative gameplay, story, and music that earned the original Portal over 70 industry accolades and created a cult following.
The single-player portion of Portal 2 introduces a cast of dynamic new characters, a host of fresh puzzle elements, and a much larger set of devious test chambers. Players will explore never-before-seen areas of the Aperture Science Labs and be reunited with GLaDOS, the occasionally murderous computer companion who guided them through the original game.
The game’s two-player cooperative mode features its own entirely separate campaign with a unique story, test chambers, and two new player characters. This new mode forces players to reconsider everything they thought they knew about portals. Success will require them to not just act cooperatively, but to think cooperatively.
How long does single player take to finish? The first one seemed like a ripoff for how short of a game it was...
Purchasing as soon as I get home! Portal 1 was so awesome.
@sharpjm: A ripoff? It was bundled with Episode 2 and TF2 when it was released..
It's not overly long, probably 10 hours for a normal playthrough and the multiplayer is maybe another 6 or 7 at this point. For this price, probably a pretty good deal. Plus they're about to release tools for individuals to create their own portal maps with a friendly interface.
Portal 2 has a ton of levels, probably took me 20 hours or so. Very, very well worth it. It was worth $30+ so at this price, buy it now.
For anyone wondering if they should buy this, the answer is yes. I bought it at full price when it came out and I was still very happy with it. The voice acting is phenomenal and the script is comedic genius. This is a steal at $6.79.
Should I buy now or wait for their summer sale?
I believe there is a level creator coming out allowing people to make and download new levels, which should make the money more than worth it. It was worth the full price when it came out, still is, very good game.
@hydroxyethyl: I doubt it'll be much cheaper (maybe $5 instead of $6.79) in the summer, so it depends if you want to wait that long to (maybe) save another dollar or two.
I do most of my gaming on consoles now, but I can't imagine trying to play Portal without a mouse. Been waiting for this one for a while; at this price it's a no-brainer.
The level editor was released today...that is why it is the midweek deal. There are already some pretty good levels out there. Don't wait, purchase this now. :)
I agree with the first guy. Obviously the first game, which has been free a couple of times, is a ripoff.
If you somehow haven't played this game yet, gogogogo. Unless you're one of those crazy people that thought the first game was a ripoff.
The game has single player and multiplayer. Game's not long but brilliantly written, great characters and an all around memorable experience.
Level editor was released today, which adds to its replayability. The level editor is currently SINGLE PLAYER ONLY. The multiplayer level editor will be released later because they are still testing it.
I have been waiting for a good deal on both Portal1 and Portal2, instant buy! Thanks deals.woot!!!
awesome game got it for $10 a while back on a steam sale still haven't played the co-op though
I thought Portal 1 was fantastic. I've been wanting to get Portal 2 for the Xbox for a good while now. I need to find a good sale on it. Alas, I don't really have a computer that's gaming worthy these days.
2 pack for me and my bro. Great deal. Thanks for the post!
Yes! I've been waiting to buy it, and I now proudly own it! Thank you so much!
Got it and played yesterday, it was worth the wait :)
I second, third, and/or fourth all the comments from those saying to buy this. I too got it when it first came out and am not even upset about having paid full-price. Yeah it was shorter than I'd hoped, particularly having waited so long for it to come out, but it's still so worth it. A lot of fun, and going back to knock out some of the achievements gave me a good excuse to go back through many of the levels again.
One of these days I may go online for the co-op levels too. Hopefully that'll tide me over until Portal 3 comes out! (and Steam, where the hell is HL Episode 3??!?)
@squatchy: I do my gaming on a Mac, and even though it's a top-end MacBook Pro, we all know Macs are not known as gaming machines yet Portal 2 played flawlessly; I doubt you need a very powerful PC for this.
I'm in for one. I'll admit, I didn't see the deal through deals.woot, but through Steam.
I posted the deal for the bundle which was deleted and according to the one comment that was left before it was deleted others had already posted and deleted with the reason being that this post covers the bundle as well. No offense to the OP but this post doesn't mention the bundle. You'd have to read the comments or click through to find out. The bundle of both is what sparked my interest and not Portal 2 by itself. It seems odd to delete the bundle deal when this one has so much interest. Many people could miss out on a deal like this with that kind of policy. There are thousands of live deals listed on here that were posted years ago and surely dead. I myself have spent time going back to the farthest reaches and tattling on old expired deals. Perhaps the mods should spend some time there. If the mods want to delete deals because they feel they're covered in other posted deals that's great but they should be sure that it's actually covered or change the post so it is beforehand.
So say I. lol
Sale ends tomorrow! Get your copy soon if you haven't already!!
