this seems to be the normal everyday price

@luke975: According to camelcamelcamel the average price for this set over the last few years is $80.61. While this isn't the lowest price ever offered ($59.86 1 1/2 years ago), it is a very good price esp. with free shipping.

@bunnyb0y: i agree its a good price. but it's not a sale or something that isnt going to be available next week or next month at the same price

If I've learned anything from watching television and movies, it's that these make extremely effective and handy self defense weapons.

@thepenrod: Isn't that what they're selling these for?

I am currently using one that my great grandmother used. I don't think its lodge but I've got others that are that are pretty great pans.

Does anyone use these on glass top stoves? Is it ok to do so?

If you can stick a magnate on the bottom of your pot or pan then it will work with induction cooking. I have a Wave induction plate that I use quite a bit and my cast iron cookware works excellently!!!

@bdonson76: I use a cast iron skillet on my glass top stove pretty much every day, works fine. Just dont slam it or scrape it around.

@bdonson76: Yes, you can use cast iron on a glass-top stove. It's also great for campfire cooking!

Same price at Walmart: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Lodge-Logic-5-Piece-Cast-Iron-Set/24873923

It's a good but not great price on a great product.

I think Lodge pans are great entry level cast iron. However, after using these for a while, I have gone back to a different older Cast Iron Pan that has a smoother surface. These cast iron pans have a rough pebbled surface and I do not feel like they can be aged appropriately to have the coveted 'seasoned cast iron' cook surface. I am still working with them though. I love the griddle and never use the dutch oven.

@nmchapma: My parents found my skillet buried in the back yard of a house in Massachusetts they lived in before I was born (let's just say JFK was still with us at the time). Who knows how long it had been buried or how long it had been used in its first life before being interred. My mom scrubbed off all the rust, seasoned it, and cooked the family breakfast in it every morning for a few decades before handing it over to me. I only use it about once a week, but this thing's second life has been more than a century and it's still perfect.

@cinneday: I have a collection of both unknown heirlooms and Lodge brand that I bought new, decades ago. The 'new' ones have definitely taken on the smoothness of the old - but it takes time.

Is there a code? When I clicked the link, it took me to Amazon, but the price is $124.99!

vote-for1vote-against

Should have bought it yesterday, I guess. Doh! The price today is from another seller; not Amazon directly.

vote-for1vote-against

Am I missing a coupon code or something? It's coming up $103.98 for me.

wait... what?..

2canoe says:
"will last a lifetime, and the lifetime of your children if not abused"
All I can say is- Don't abuse your children!
:D

vote-for1vote-against

@2canoe: Please don't abuse your children ;-p

vote-for1vote-against

Why is it when i try to order it ,it goes to Amazon and says the price is $103.98 in stead of $65.00
