Amazon reviews aren't too good. Apparently if you're going to use them outside you want to avoid getting them wet or snowy. Also the price isn't so hot unless you're buying multiples as these can be had for under ten bucks shipped.
Bad replacement for light with motion sensor.
Yes you have to run the wire and install, but it always work in snow or rain or when the ground is covered with leafs.
And I believe the glow doesn't last all night.
I was thinking of these for the steps INSIDE of our old boat. We looked at motion sensing lights but didn't really like the look of them on the teak walls. I would think they would do fine inside, and would retain just enough glow to keep us from stumbling on the steps at night. Has anyone actually seen some of these?

Seriously, it had dark safety treads on the steps when we got it, but they were peeling up. (It's an old wooden boat.) I'm planning to remove the ragged remains of those treads and replace them with some other safety tread. If these things would appear dark during the day, but glow softly at night, it would be worth trying them. I can't tell from the provided photos how they look in the daylight. If they are vile green, well, no. They are definitely not going in my boat. I was hoping someone had seen them in person and could provide some feedback.
At this price, I suspect the GITD agent here is copper-activated zinc sulfide. Newer and more expensive GITD things have europium activated strontium aluminate, which glows much brighter and longer, but is about 10x as expensive.
I'd definitely get some if they were the newer stuff.
3M Makes the newer SA based Photolum sheeting. It's sold into the building construction markets for EXIT signage. The SA material does in fact last all night, it's kind of amazing.
@belyndag: You're worried about puting motion lights on teak walls but not some tacky glow in the dark strips on the steps?
I would soo buy these if they were tritium based instead of phosphorescent.
Though, it would make them very expensive, and possibly not sanctioned in the US. for this use.
