Adams Golf a7OS Max Hybrid Irons for $279.99 + $5.00 shipping
Forgiveness is a virtue. Especially when it helps you make par.
I just got a set of these for $60 more. I love them! The OS means Off Set which means the head is slightly offset from the shaft. If you slice then these are the clubs for you. Great deal!
These made the 2010 Golf Digest Hotlist http://hotlist.golfdigest.com/detail-exec/brand/2657/product_type/205/model/47648/b/Adams/p/Iron%20set/m/Idea%20a7OS%20Max
Seem like a solid deal if you are trying to get a good set of clubs to keep for a while and you are high enough in handicap you don't need pinpoint shaping of shots (which is most people).
Right handed? Ouch. It stings, Woot, it stings.
Pulled the trigger. Everything I read said this was the smart move for a noob making a first decent upgrade.
Also read that 'regular' flex was best if you suck like me, and 'stiff' was best if you kick ass. I got regular.
These are good clubs if you are a hacker and can't break 100. If you are a 15 or lower handicap player, you might outgrow them.
Adams makes outstanding equipment. They were just acquired by TaylorMade. From the first Tight Lies fairway woods, Barney Adams was a true innovator. I have a set of A3s and love them. Anyone on the fence because they are not Callaway, Ping, Titleist, etc. rest assured these are great clubs. Perfect for a new golfer, senior golfer or high handicapper. Tons of forgiveness here.
I bought this set at about 18 months ago and absolutely love it! One thing is for sure- whatever problems exist in my golf game are not due to problems with my clubs.
The OS means that these clubs are oversized, that the have a slightly larger head size to help with those missed placed hits? They are not offset.
These are great clubs. If I was right handed I might buy some.
No left handed option makes my face frowny
Just my two cents - Adams are great clubs indeed, but Hybrid irons aren't for everyone. I shoot on average maybe 90-95 and bought a set of hybrid irons a few years ago when they were first all the rage. It actually UPPED my scores - I could never figure out how to hit them! Quickly switched them out for a set of Taylormade standard irons and scores went back down.
Just a word of caution.
Time for all of us lefties to unite. We demand an equal opportunity to spend money. If all 3 of us speak up our voice shall be heard!!!
Adams introduced those hybrid irons, the same ones Woot is selling, in 2009...Not saying it is a bad deal but in the golf world that is pretty old technology.
I purchased this set early last season, and absolutely love them. It took a round or 2 at the driving range to get used to the hybrids (switching from blades) but once you get used to them they are very forgiving. I highly recommend them!!
Any one have a suggestion as to whether these would work for a lady?
I've heard good things about Adams products, and rather like the fairway wood of theirs I've got.
Are these clubs long enough for someone who is 6'3"?
Are these steel shaft or graphite?
@stacien12: It looks like they make a version for women. http://www.adamsgolf.com/products/womens/a7os.php
That being said, I'd say if you are 5'8" or taller then these should be fine.
@stacien12: My wife (who is 5'8") has a set of these in a SENIOR shaft which are a little longer. We had to return the ladies set.....she must have shorter arms than most folks. The shaft flex is negligible at this skill set and price point IMHO.
Will the fellas tease me if I show up on the course with a full set of hybrid clubs?
Are these men's or women's clubs
@twopaiges2: Pretty sure this is the "men's set." The info from Adams Golf indicates that taht the #3 hybrid only comes with the men's set.
@paynomind: because woot's going to sell a bunch of something for those 10 percenters
AND BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE!
Well... was excited to purchase but none available in senior flex :/ So much for that thought.... Not wooting :(
Remember that any good golf store or club repair shop can adjust these to fit your specific height and swing for just a few dollars. Definitely a worthwhile investment after buying a new set of clubs.
Also remember that you can always get them re-shafted if you find you need a stiffer flex later on.
