A Best Buy brand? From the site:
"CowBoom offers deals on brand-name new, pre-owned and refurbished electronics and more. CowBoom is a Best Buy Company that acts as Best Buy’s liquidation center. We test and certify our products plus offer a 30-day money back guarantee. But I'm sure you all already know this.

i bought mine a few weeks ago at the same price point and it has been working like a charm. i have thoroughly used it from GTA 5 to good amount of netflix. No problems so far.

To the guy who bought this a couple weeks back, what version of firmware did it come with?

vote-for2vote-against

@foolishfish: It's a 120gb (AND it's on clearance), so it's probably gonna have the firmware you want.

Wait...you wouldn't be attempting to run an unauthorized 3rd party device on this console, would you?!

Because if you are, don't buy it from PriceAngels. They sell knock-offs.

I like their reasoning behind pulling backwards compatibility...

Backwards Compatibility:
Due to the availability of an extensive line-up of PS3™ system titles, the 120GB PS3™ system is not backwards compatible with PlayStation®2 titles, but does maintain backwards compatibility for some original PlayStation® titles.

oh but you sure can pay for em on ps network!

Looks like a good deal, I love my PS3.

vote-for1vote-against

great deal but is it reverse compatible..can it play games for PS2 & PSX?

vote-for1vote-against

@terrahawk80: No. Taken from the item description...
"Backwards Compatibility:

How many times are they gonna have this same deal on here? Seems like a weekly occurence.

vote-for1vote-against

what kind of warranty comes with this unit?

vote-for1vote-against

In for 1. Here's hoping for 3.55 or lower.

vote-for1vote-against

ordered one up :) hopefully jailbreakable

vote-for1vote-against

Got one. Everyone probably knows this, but even if you're not a big gamer (like me), the PS3 has one of the best blu ray players on the market built in. That and the built in WIFI make it worth this price alone.

vote-for1vote-against

@mikedwilson63: I love my ps3 (as both a media player and a game system), but if you're only planning on using it for blurays, what good is the wifi?

vote-for1vote-against

@yankeefan1087: I believe you can link up with most new blu-rays and actually view other material via the interweb/downloads

vote-for1vote-against

@andrasko15: Not to mention that it's also Netflix streaming-ready.

vote-for1vote-against

Doesn't this update the firmware automatically over a web connection?

vote-for1vote-against

I would think that these will drop to $200 new this Christmas season to compete with the 360.

vote-for1vote-against

@tucnguyen: No, it tells you an update is available and asks if you want to download and install it.

vote-for1vote-against

@mikedwilson63: That's what I'm buying it for. I can buy an LG BD Player for $179 w/ wifi and DLNA client or a PS3. Not a tough choice.

vote-for1vote-against

RIP. Can't find it anymore. Lowest price for a PS3 I can find on the site now is $260.

vote-for1vote-against

my 80GB backwards comp (paid $500 for it new 3 years ago!) just died on me, is this worth buying or should i shell out the extra cash and get a new one?

vote-for1vote-against

@venzam: Your dead console is worth more repaired than this. The backward compatible versions are still sky-high. If you can get your current one fixed (and upgrade the HD) for less...that's what I would do.

vote-for1vote-against

@xstevejx: "...asks you if you want to install..."

Yeah, but unless you upgrade AND accept the new EULA it won't work for certain games over the network. Friend of mine is still rolling 3.41 (I think) for the ability to run other OS. 90% of his games won't play over PSN....but that's not what he uses it for so...

I do know COD:MW2 has 2 or 3 required updates to run (due to all the crap hackers) and to intall the updates you have to upgrade the system OS...

So....depends is the best answer for this...

@drchops: Plus, Just look at GeoHot. I wouldn't crack any Sony product, you will spell your demise.
