Apparently, if you add the code GEMS you also get 32 milk chocolate solid gems as well.

Best thing I ever had from Godiva was their chocolate covered pretzels. yummmmmm

i think they're overpriced and full of chemicals ;)

@realistpm: Considering @catbertthegreat's description, I suppose you were required to say that.

vote-for2vote-against

@shrdlu but of course... who doesn't love chemicals anyway? sheesh... people who are no fun, that's who!

vote-for1vote-against

just make sure to accidently leave the price tag on there

@shrdlu: It was a carry over from comments on the wine.woot posting.

Folks, I really do not know if these are full of chemicals since I don't read the back of packaging to know exactly what is in something.

@catbertthegreat: The comment took me aback, at first, and then I re-read your description, and laughed. Nice to see that people have a sense of humor. Actually, Godiva's chocolate making is pretty rigid. I'm a huge fan (and have NO intention of buying this huge vat of calories you call happiness in a box). The list of ingredients is pretty much the same as you'd use at home (unless you're one of those people who believes that margarine can be substituted for butter).

Not implying @catbertthegreat when I say "you", but rather a general you. English is so imprecise. Too bad we don't all still speak Latin.

mmmmmmmmmmm chocolate...... yummy

vote-for1vote-against

overpriced/overrated. that's just MHO. pass.

@gojets3: Why comment then? Not helpful.

@shrdlu: The day I bake with margarine is the day I stick myself in the oven with a batch of cupcakes.

I'm a average cook, but I can bake like a food network chef.

A tip to make a box cake mix taste like it was homemade from some secret family recipe: Replace any water in the recipe with milk(at least 2%) and the oil with butter.

@catbertthegreat: Hah! I can make a cake from scratch quicker than you can mix up a box cake. Cake just isn't that hard. Look up Danish Pastry; now that's some WORK. Pound of butter, four hours of letting it rise, and then rolling it out, adding thinly sliced butter each time... I could go on, but I'll stop now. You can't GET decent danish pastry any more.

@shrdlu: Reminds me of Hungarian Creamish. I don't even know how to spell it properly, but my 94 year old great aunt makes it every year. It is one recipe that will essentially die with her as it is only in her head and no one can stand to make it, including me, as screwing up one of the dough layers ruins the whole thing. Really tasty though...

Something you can't get here, a proper German Black Forest Cake (Schwarzwaelder Kirschtorte)(there is no Coconut in the real thing). I love making it just to see the look on the person's face who is eating it. Also I love eating it too.

The one thing that is inherited in my family is recipes.

@catbertthegreat: Do you melt the butter or leave it solid?

vote-for1vote-against

@maraich: I really do not remember anymore. It has been too long since I had that cooking lesson and I would rather forget.

vote-for2vote-against

@catbertthegreat: Just to make it easier for others looking for this, it's called Hungarian Cremish (no A), and it's also considered to be Romanian, as well as Hungarian. Among other things, I know it contains filo(sp) dough. Amazingly, I have found a picture.

Low calorie dessert, I'm sure.

These chocolates are a one-way overpriced ticket to chemicalville.

Thanks for posting, cb! I'm going to pass on these since I already exceeded my Valentine's Day chocolate on wine.woot.

@shrdlu: Thanks for hunting for the photo. It is not exactly the same as the one I know but it is really really close.

@catbertthegreat: Actually, I've never seen a German Black Forest cake with coconut. It's always choc cake with cherries and cream. Good stuff. The German Chocolate cake - that's the one with the coconut and pecans. Also good stuff.

I haven't ordered this exact box, but I ordered a limited edition box for my mom for Christmas last year with chocolates that looked similar to these (and about the same price - $3 per piece). I know they are very expensive, but I like getting things for people that they would never buy for themselves (but would of course still enjoy). Anyway, she really loved the gift. The chocolates were beautiful, and they had unique flavors. Some of them were the same as in this set, such as bananas foster, apple pie, etc.

My boyfriend knows not to get chocolate for me for Valentine's day (I think it's tacky, and the chocolate is normally of poor quality), but I wouldn't mind getting this box.

That is so pretty! This would be a great gift for Valentine's day.

The Godiva G collection is simply gorgeous to look at. They don't TASTE all that great, but they sure are pretty.

Of course, each year, the wife and I wait until February 15th, and then hit the Godiva store where everything will have been marked down to 50% off. Totally worth it at that point.

@shrdlu: You can in Denmark! Best Dainish I've ever had.
