Thats really good you dont need to be from a specific school
Anyone know where I can get an edu address?
Woot!
Does this work for grade school kids also?
This is a great deal. You can even get Professional rather than home for the same price.
I only wish I could get this deal.
Just getting my comment out there so Matt Rutledge won't be disappointed in me.
Go Woot!
Good deal. Yes you need an edu address so if your childs grade school gives out email addresses you are good to go.
Definitely a great deal
nice
Good deal, but I graduated two years ago. Oh well.
is all you need an edu address? then I am IN
@b_nom:
Enroll in a college that will give you a .edu address that they accept?
Does t work for teachers?
Make sure they've fixed the problems they had with the student download before ordering.
I got the professional version for the same price. Good deal.
MMMM my daughter in law attends one of these colleges......MMMMMM might work
Appears that all that is required is the .edu address. Nice deal!
Totally worth the price to avoid the headaches of the alternative
Even if you graduated a while back, check to see if your email address is still valid. I know some schools don't deactivate the address for a long time, if ever. Or check to see if you can get an email address by virtue of joining the alumni association of your alma mater.
It stinks that my old college e-mail address expired 3 months ago....
great deal for great operating system
@balvini: Am I Eligible? Yes, if…
You qualify if you have a valid .EDU e-mail OR an e-mail address through one of the educational institutions listed here.
You are enrolled in coursework, current proof or enrollment may be required in the United States.
Your PC is able to run Windows 7 - use this tool to check.
I love Windows 7 on my laptop. I received it free through school.
Be careful when buying this update deal. We bought the wrong version, and now can't update, but can only do a full install. Neither Digital River nor Microsoft are sympathetic.
This is a great deal, if you have an edu address. Otherwise, no dice. Not for me though.
Purchased and downloaded Windows 7 Professional in ISO format. Successfully burned a DVD using ImageBurn and installed Win7 Pro in about 1/2 hour.
Not a bad deal at all...
@pkagel: No -- it's only going to work for a .edu email address, and I don't think they give those out below the post-secondary level.
@balvini: Only if you're at a school w/ a .edu email address.
australia.edu gives .edu email.
@lmckisic: Do you know if you can also get Ultimate?
Damn, And I just graduated in 1974. Does being a student of life get you the discount? Great deal if you qualify.
Best OS they have put out in a while. Great for the price too!
I have a alumni.nmu.edu address, anyone know for certain if that will work?
It looks like they've gotten the bad-image problem taken care of. Just make sure you don't get a .box file, or your install won't work.
Is this for both 32 and 64 bit?
Unfortunately my school doesn't have their own .edu server address :(
As a student with a desktop and a laptop, can you get more than one copy on a single .edu address?
I got in on this deal when Win 7 was released through digital river and it worked great.
There is also a way to get more than one copy for this price if your school uses Google Apps and Gmail for mail. When entering in your email you can add a "+" after your name to make it look like you have more than one address. (i.e. myname@myschool.edu is the same as myname+woot@myschool.edu). Both emails will go to the same myname@myschool.edu address. I got 3 copies using this method.
Does anyone know if Microsoft is offering any kind of general "education" discount? My wife is a teacher, so I'm hoping she'll be eligible for something.
Great deal if your school doesn't have a MSDNAA program. You might want to check and see if they do, in which case you get it free.
I would highly recommend upgrading ASAP. Been using 7 for months now, and it's impressive.
Don't have an .EDU address, been out of School way too long. My Kids are even passed that stage. When he Grand Kiddies get there, it will be Windows 27. :)
Looks like a good deal, though I wonder if I should wait for the new Google OS.
Awyeahhhh .edu!
Thanks! I will jump on this
Outstanding. I also just got my copy.
I used both mine and my wife's student accounts to order the 32 and 64 bit versions, one of the best deals I have seen Microsoft release in a long time
Super cheap.
