I always seem to need a a replacement hose after the Winter.

Spend more money and get the Craftsman rubber hose Sears sells. They are among the best you can get. Cheap hoses end up costing you more over the long haul.

And don't EVER buy 5/8 hose. It is utter crap. Get 3/4". You'll be much happier in the long run (seriously).

Why would a heavier 3/4" hose be better than a 5/8" when it's very likely that the valve it will attach to is only 1/2" anyway?

@ken14445: Because you get much better throughput with 3/4.

Try taking a 5/8 hose that is the same length as 3/4. Hook them both up to your sprinklers and see the difference.

And no the valve isn't 1/2" unless you put in 1/2" valves.

Anyone who uses quick connects will never see a difference between 5/8" and 3/4". The quick connects restricts the flow. That's why pressure washers say not to use quick connects - you don't flow enough water to properly cool the pump.
