Anybody want to buy my Euro box set?

I have a better one:

The Ultimate Matrix Collection - includes only the original movie The Matrix (1999). That's it.

@jnixon: I once watched an edited version of Reloaded. Though it was simply supposed to be one of those content edits (sex, nudity, language), it ended up making the film BEARABLE. Of course, I've never watched Revolutions, though what I have heard makes me doubt that anything short of a complete retcon would save it.

The Animatrix films were decent as 'in universe but out of arc' kind of things. The last 2 'real' movies? Keep them.

@oldcqr: I second that. About 3/4 of the Animatrix shorts were quite well done, very enjoyable, and helps fill out the world nicely. The 2 done by Shinichiro Watanabe were especially great.

As for the real movies, I'd avoid them on Blu Ray (well, I don't even admit there's a 2nd or 3rd one, but I'd avoid the first on Blu Ray). They were movies heavily reliant on special effects which did not age very well. Adding on the sheen of Blu Ray can only make that stand out even more.

@sybrwookie: Not so fast. I have the trilogy on DVD. I was hoping my PS3 would upscale them into looking half way decent. Not so much. I did buy the original Matrix on Blu Ray and it looks great. Huge improvement. I can't speak for this box set, but at least the original movie looks much better on Blu Ray. I don't dislike the other two movies as much as most, but this is a great price on the box set. Even if you rarely watch much other than the original movie, it's a very good deal.

I don't know if this $5 off coupon is real but it's worth a try:

@dwayneam: Tried it yesterday and it worked. I had to get the store to price match what they had online. So your local store might still have it on the shelf for $59.99.

Anyone remember the version of the Matrix that came out on DVD with the ridiculous Neo bust? I think there was like 8 discs or something and only 1 was worth watching.
