I think I'm going to get this. Countless times I wish I had a video cam and this seems like the easy fix.

I too have been eying these for awhile and this is the cheapest yet... but then I start reading the reviews and ..... will keep eying it also

I wonder what the video quality looks like. (Wish they showed an example). This seems like something my father-in-law would enjoy for Christmas.

The video quality is really horrid. Though you can just use it as a storage device.

I have one of these. Well, not one of these, but a different model of the same type. I got it for $46 last year (prices have come down since then) and it has 8GB of onboard storage. The secret is looking for them on ebay (usually cheaper than online stores).

As far as performance, it really does what it says...captures video and audio to local storage and then you can move it onto your PC via the USB drive functionality. The limiting bits are battery life (mine only captures about 90 minutes on a charge) and the fact that, for whatever reason, it divides up videos into chunks of a little less than an hour. So, you don't get one big video.

But, with that said, mine captures at VGA (640x480) at 30fps (you have to search for that feature...not all do) and the quality is rather good...about as good as a low-end digital camera. You can definitely tell what's going on and the mic is quite sensitive.

It's fun as a toy. Hope that helps.

I bought the raw 'guts' (DVR without the pen) and they work amazingly well. The biggest problem is getting the lens orientated properly

so, i shouldn't leave this in the bathroom?

@Fordgebd: No you shouldn't. That was my mistake. Actually have one of these. Works pretty good.

I think it would be worth it, even if the only thing you used it for was the thumb-drive capability. The 8 GB version is under 50 bucks! It may be a slower transfer rate, but it is still convenient to have a functional pen with your portable storage.

I bought one, I hope it works. Thanks to whomever put the videos of the pen in action. wouldn;t have bought one without the demo. I have bought to much junk that was advertised as being "spy gear". The 007 "Zippo cam" and the Watch Cam I bought somewhere are both JUNK. I hope this works better!
