10-Port High Speed USB 2.0 Hub With AC Adapter, USB Cable & Portable Stand for $9.99 + free shipping
See that door? 10 celebrities with 10 dead iPods could burst through there any minute, each one demanding a charge. Are you ready?
I'm looking for a good powered USB hub. The D-Link 7 port hub looks good, but is hard to find for under $30. Anyone know about this one?
Suntekstore.com has a 7 port version of this for a couple of bucks less, also with free shipping. Info on either (and on that store) would also be appreciated.

"High Speed" is a misnomer....I bought one of these a few weeks ago on another midnight sale site..same price...I've checked it with a meter and it only puts out 1/2 amp, about half of a true high speed port...Example: It won't even charge my Kindle although it does work for Magic Jack, scanner etc...David
2.0? How quaint. Why is this being upvoted?
Thanks. AC output is a factor, but 500 mah may be enough. I'm more concerned with reliability, having gotten a defective one (different brand) and returned it already. Oh, and the AC cord was too short on that one. How long is it with this hub?
i wanted one of these
didnt like the price on these sites
checked eBay
got 2 of them shipped to my house total for under $9
they are slow but self powered, so if you want this to use on like a Dell 1.7Ghz single core..NO PROB
if you want this to use with newer hardware? I wouldn't suggest it =)
TESLA: The ac cord is 42"....The usb power cable is rather short though...Can't find mine to give you an exact measurement..lol..Have so many that are longer....David
@thaskaman: Are you sure it was this model on Ebay? As for the price, I thought I was cheap, but you're beyond me...
@deesam: Thanks. I need a long AC cord but not a long USB cable. I may buy this. Is this online store ok (Ben's)?
@tesla33: Looks like there are a few sites selling these things tonight...Good Luck...I'm off to bed...David
The one that Amazon is selling is the one with the too-short cord that died on me after 10 seconds. I'd avoid that one:
I know the "celebrities with 10 iPads" thing in the little tagline is just a joke, but it's still misleading. You couldn't charge two iPads with this, let alone ten. If you're looking for something to use as a charging station then don't get this. It would be acceptable for a bunch of low draw devices like flash drives or memory card readers, but forget about actually charging larger devices like tablets.
@tesla33: I've never had any issues when ordering from Ben's items usually arrived in 5-7 days. I don't think you'll have any problems with this site.
@westco10: Thanks. I know they are part of 1saleaday, and I have never had a problem with them or their affliate, Shadora, but I was curious about Ben's.
I got one. If it's defective I'm going back to shopping in physical stores...although I tried to get the D-Link from the K-Mart site, and they won't ship to store, because it's really Sears selling them. So it's pay for shipping or find a Sears. Deceptive, using K-Mart as just a 'storefront' for Sears stock.
These are generic and come branded in many variations but all essentially the same device. I have had one for about 2 years now. Works great as a USB hub where I've connected my keyboard, mouse, memory stick, Blackberry (yes, yes, I know...), etc. So in terms of data communications it works fine. Don't know about the power part. Mine has a separate optional power cord so I'm pretty sure I can up the power output if needed but never had to.
I bought these the last time they came up ... They worked ok, but they fell apart. When I unplugged one cable it pulled the device apart. Functions, but very poor construction
@tesla33: Newegg has a ten port, powered hub. I bought one in June, it was a e-blast deal for $19.99 w/ shipping.

I have never had a problem with it at all.
@deesam: I'm pretty sure the "High Speed" part of the description refers to the hub being 480Mbps USB 2.0 rather than low-speed USB 1.0 (1.5Mbps) or full-speed USB 1.1 (12 Mbps). I don't know that I've ever seen hubs advertising a high-current charging rate, although I haven't really paid attention to them lately. I believe the standard for USB ports is to put out 500mA so the hub was within specifications. You'd probably have to get a dedicated high-speed charger for any kind of charging above 500mA.
Well looks like there may be a couple of hubs that provide dedicated tablet/smartphone charging ports. Looks like the high-current ports are charge-only and don't transmit data. In that case it seems like it'd be easier to just use a regular hub and a separate charging cable so you don't have to have a charging cable constantly sticking out of the hub or plug and unplug it.

I bought one from Icemonkey last month and it works great. I have a PS/2 to USB converter, laptop cooler, external 2TB HD and a blackberry all running at the same time where before I had terrible lags with two items on the same port, and it takes up very little space.
I have the same brand but with 7-ports. It's been working great without any problems. One thing to remember is that the USB cable that goes into the computer is pretty short.
If it won't charge when it's connected to your computer with a USB cable, it won't charge when plugged into this hub. The ports on the hub provide approximately the same amount of current as the ports on your computer. If your device requires a dedicated charger (like a Kindle Fire, for example) this isn't going to work.
What am I going to tell James Earl Jones, Tom Hanks, Michael J. Fox, Mike Rowe, Morgan Freeman, Sally Field, Ron Howard, Will Smith, Bill Cosby and Denzel Washington now? You say this device won't charge their cell-phones?
The site is making me create an account to use Paypal...
This is a CHEAPLY MADE site. Like making a nock off but putting a new name on it.
Purchased one of these for use with my brand-new, Win7 OS computer, and it doesn't work. The hub didn't come with drivers, and the computer won't recognize it as a 2.0 hub. Also, ports keep mysteriously dropping in and out with no particular reason. Big waste of money.
@veilance: Look at this one here:
