Perhaps someone can tell me here once and for all. Is this movie based of Rock-em sock-em robots?

Yes, you're right. A wireless version of Rockem Sockem Robots . I rented this movie and really enjoyed it, however, Hollywood seems to enjoy making kids super brainy (with a complete understanding of economics) and the adult a complete loser and idiot. Get past that, and the movie is a lot of fun.

@rmsalt: It's the kids' eye view, "I am smart and grown-ups are dumb". Especially common theme in movies and TV shows aimed at the 8-12 year old demographic, but seen in stuff aimed at teens as well. I assume you have to have some sort of subscription to use this, is this an Amazon Prime thing? My friend loves this movie, saw it 3x in the theater so I'm sure he'd like to see it again.

No subscription. just a registered amazon account and a computer or device that supports amazon video.
