Used various models of these over the last 15 years or so and find they do the best job cleaning your teeth of any toothbrushes. I highly recommend the overall cleaning system....look into which models "bells and whistles" with led screens and other advanced features fit your liking.
@raider9924: I've never had this model, but I've had a couple different ones - I think they were like the lower end models like $30ish on sale.
Have you ever tried a Sonicare (to compare it)?
If you have, then you can ignore all of the stuff I typed below, it's beasically just me saying how awesome the Sonicare is :)
Anyways, I just got a Sonicare and DUDE :).. that thing is ridiculous. I'm not even sure how to explain it, but it's a completely different action than the Oral-B. As opposed to the head kind of oscillating back and forth it vibrates at hyper-speed like the tool the dentist uses to clean your teeth.
I'm guessing the higher-end Oral-B are probably quite a bit better, so it's probably not a completely fair comparison.. but it stomped a mudhole in my Oral-B.
TL;DR I was amazed at how much better it was.. I've never been so excited about a toothbrush lol, but that thing is awesome.
@drchops: I have the Oral B Pulsonic and it is like the Sonicare you described. It is excellent. I actualy bought it from Amazon mid January so it does not apply for the rebate but at $50 it was worth it. At $30 after rebate it is a steal.
@drchops: I have not owned a Sonicare. I purchased an Oral B when Sonicare's were first surfacing at a very high price point and have been very happy with them I never felt the need to try something else. The first time I went to my dentist for my 6 month cleaning/checkup after first switching to the Oral B he even commented on the large improvement in my overall tooth/gum "health" so I never wanted to switch. The Sonicare might penetrate a bit deeper reducing what gets cleaned flossing but I personally thought it would not clean my gums as well.
I have owned the Sonicare in the past and when it broke I switched to the Oral B 3000 when they had a $50 mail in rebate. Sonicare pros: The battery lasted over a week between charges and felt it did a good job cleaning. Cons: the replacement heads are costly at $30 each, and the unit died after after about 2.5 years. Oral B pros: the replacement heads have more options to better clean your teeth, and the heads are cheaper (try Costco.)Oral B cons: The unit needs to be charged more often and takes over a day to charge sometime. Also to note, the rebates come quickly and they do actually send them out! After having both I would probably stick with the Oral B because of their promotional rebate program, cost/choice/quality of replacement heads and the overall clean feeling after brushing!
@raider9924 @jonkamp: Yeah, I'd never tried a Sonicare before, I just found the Susan G Komen one for like $20 bucks on Deals.woot.. I just happened to need a new toothbrush so I jumped on it.
I honestly never thought there was much of a difference between electric toothbrushes - I figured they all did basically the same thing.. the only reason I even mention the Sonicare is just because I was surprised how much different a "quality" toothbrush was.
Like I said though, NEVER had a high-end Oral-B, so I can't say anything about it :D - might be better
