I hate to say it, but these are hardly "sales." Roughly $100 per 1TB internal is pretty much the standard price these days, occasionally dropping to $90 per 1TB during real sales.

I believe Woot sold a 1.5T with enclosure for 96 bucks in the last woot-off ...

No deal at all. Can be had cheaper elsewhere, and was going for around $140 Black Friday time. $170 shipped from Techforless, $180 Buy.com, etc. Too bad I didn't buy it when it was $140 :(

Have paid less for caviar blacks in the past. They work nice in my NAS.

You can get a better deal at Fry's Electronics just about any day of the week.

You can find 5400 1.5TB Hard Drives for about 90 bucks nowadays. 7200 are a little rarer at 1.5TB at 90 bucks, but I've spotted a few deals.

i like the target tb for 60$ on black friday. never had such an easy time getting through a store got 2, everyone always said go for redundancy when dealing with externals. how often have people had them fail?

The notebook hardrive (Western Digital WD6400BEVT) looks like a good deal! I want 7200rpm though :(

Not every "sale" is a good deal, and this supposed deal is perfect proof of this.

the hard drive sale indicates that there are hard drives for sale. i did not see anything to jump at

NewEgg rarely actually has deals. all their pricing is market standard and they just throw up a new sales campaign every possible opportunity, throw a bunch of random items in it, and call it a MASSIVE SAVINGS

i hate newegg

$180 for a 2 TB certainly seems like a standard price, which isn't necessarily a bad thing of course. If they threw in an external HD enclosure that may make it an exceptional deal.

There is one drive on Newegg with a good price, external Samsung 1.5 TB for $120 with code: EMCMNNT32 or $130 without. (Best reviews too)

Cheapest 1.5 TB external on ZipZoomFly is $137 and $150 on TigerDirect. Fry's has one for $110, although it's sold out.

No need to hate on Newegg just because you think they don't have the best prices. Their user review system, customer service, and shipping times are great, and nowhere is better to figure out how to build your own computer.

It's true most of the items in their weekly promotions aren't "sales", but the featured items with big pictures and sometimes Shell Shockers are great deals.

For hard drives, I wouldn't recommend getting the cheapest you can find. Instead, head over to Newegg and check user reviews for info on reliability and failure rate. (You can approximate % of 1-egg reviews as fail rate lol)

Yes, Newegg deals come and go, and a lot are pretty much non-deals. This looks like one of those, but if you're looking for a specific thing and you happen to find what you need at a good price, then I guess that's a deal.

Regarding the poster who wanted a 7200RPM drive for a notebook, it's true it can give you an improvement in performance, depending on what sort of task you will be doing. But also, keep in mind they will draw more power, generate more heat, and probably be noisier. A lot of other improvements that have gone on in recent years have made drive RPM less important as a major contributor to performance.

If you act fast then the amazon lightning deal right now (until 10am central time) is a 1.5 TB Seagate for 91.99

Newegg can have GREAT deals, you just have to watch out for them. In the week of Black Friday I bought 2 WD 2TB each for $130 each including shipping. That is $65 a TB including shipping. And as someone else noted, their daily specials can be pretty good.

Fry's had a 1TB iomega for $59.99 - with no rebate forms! I directed Santy Claus to pick me up one with the promise that I would act surprised on Christmas.
