For those that don't know yet and prefer to buy American, this is another one of their sets that they now make in China. Same manufacturing, same warranty, just not made in the USA anymore.

Yeah well, it still is a good deal for the price. BTW, I was disappointed to see Snap On's tools are made in Taiwan.

I'd be in for one, except 12-point sockets suck IMO. Spend a little more and get a good 6-point set.

@bdy0003:
A lot of the Craftsman tools are made by Apex who also owns Snap-On, among others. They are slowly switching their mfg overseas so expect to see some other "American" brands being made elsewhere.

@etewald:
These are NOT a 12 point socket. They have an interesting form to the teeth inside the socket that allows them to grip a variety of different sockets, like hex, spline, rounded hex, torx, and square.

@kennyboy020: I own some of these sockets. They are 12 point. Because they are 12 point, the sockets are able to fit to shapes (like you describe) other than hex.

In this case, the 12 point socket is nice to have around.

These are not 12-point, they are not Standard nor Metric.
As the title states, they are "Universal."

Click the pick and zoom in on the actual website. Not sure how well they work, but universal tools never seem to be the best choice. Especially if you are a serious mechanic.

wasn't this craftsman set (or one very similar) in the community deals yesterday, priced in the $50's? I recall commenting on it being a good deal. Can't find it now.

You can genuinely buy better quality tools at harbor freight now. Look elsewhere if you want quality and/or made in USA.

Also, "universal" is short for "will strip every somewhat tight fastener in sight, causing bad words to spew from your mouth."

Shows to be out of stock now. Must have been quite a few takers on this deal

@epj3: Respectfully, harbor freight sells almost no quality tools. Have you looked at their wrench designs?

I love these 'universal wrenches'. I recently had to loosen some rusted tight bolts on some trailer axels. These wrenches gripped like no other. I did have some 6 point wrenches that gripped well, but they had thin handles and were torcher on the hands when pushing and pulling.

I'm sorry I missed these as they are also very easy to read the sizes. I really like these wrenches -- it would have been nice to have the set.
