Yeah this is done like dinner. Tried to get it from Target today and almost did, but it's no longer on the site.

vote-for2vote-against

I got 2 copies at Walmart for 9.98 each. They weren't happy about it, and they were calling every Toys R Us in the area, even arguing with each other that they shouldn't give me the price. I piped in and mentioned that their policy states they will match any price, and that their own opinions don't matter. Now my Wife and I are playing the game and having a blast, knowing we stuck it to Walmart.

vote-for2vote-against

This deal is dead now.

By that I mean they took the game off their site (PC regular version).

Whether or not they still have them in stock/for $9 at a Toys R Us I have no idea.

vote-for1vote-against

All Toys R Us in my area no longer carry PC games. When I called Best buy to price match they refused becuase the Toys R Us ad states you have to buy Pokemon Black or White to get the $10 price. Guess I'm not getting Skyrim right now.

vote-for1vote-against

Best Buy wouldn't price-match for me. I checked that TRU (literally around the corner in the mall) had it, ran back to BBY before both stores closed, and they refused to price-match because it lists as out of stock online (no kidding, it's an in-store deal). Irritatingly, they waited to tell me this until after the store had closed. Guess I should've just gotten it at TRU and not bothered with BBY B.S.

@lcadaver: Okay, to further update:

As explained in the last comment, both Walmart locations in our area were managed by dense doucheheads and neither of them would price match because they thought this was an internet-only price, despite the page clearly showing the opposite.

This evening we went to Best Buy with no expectations and with no printout in hand. We grabbed two copies of Diablo III and one copy of Skyrim, went to the checkout where two girls who could not believe the price were about to call Toys'R'Us to confirm that it was in stock when they saw a nearby manager walk by and called her over. We overheard the manager say that she'd already seen this deal three times today, and that she knew our local Toys'R'US was out of stock, but that she didn't care; "I say yes anyway, that's all that matters." A few minutes later, we walked out happy customers!

vote-for1vote-against

The nearest Toys-R-Us is about an hour away, so I go to my local Wal*Mart and give it a shot. Brought D3 and Skyrim to checkout. Guy asks me which store, I tell him, he scans the items, asks me how much the other store has them for, I say $10 each. Cashier gets wide eyes "No, no, no, no. I don't think we can do that. The price difference is just too big. I'll have to check with the manager."

Manager happens to be right behind him, doing an override. She swings by and asks "Which store?" I say "Toys-R-Us" she says "I'll check that real quick." and walks off for about 60 or so, comes walking back and says "We don't price match with Toys-R-Us, they're out of our area." and just walks out the front entrance. Never once did she stop moving or give me direct eye contact, what a joke.

Got it matched at Walmart after a bit of fuss. Was first given the "this is an online price" line, and then when I insisted it was not and asked the manager to call TRU, he came back and told me they said the game was $60 and there was nothing he could do. So I called TRU, and asked them to verify the price for the game by UPC code, and they verified $9.98. So I went back in, got a different manager, and insisted that they call again. She had TRU on speakerphone (thankfully) when they said their price was $60. I asked her to verify by UPC code, and then she said "oh, it's still up on the screen here, and it's $9.98".

Anyone matching at Walmart, I would recommend you print the price page, but only pull it out as a very last resort. First just tell them you don't have the ad, ask them to call TRU, and verify the price by UPC. Also print Walmart's matching policy to have with you. Your TRU is probably out of stock, but Walmart's match policy does not require that it is.

I just got two copies from Best Buy. He just looked up the price online and gave me the discount, he didn't even call to see if they had any in stock.

vote-for1vote-against

remember Fry's price matches all online retailers.

vote-for1vote-against

Best Buy refused to price match. He didn't call Toys R Us to see if they were out of stock, but he gave me a run-around about it being too expensive to honor, and he couldn't confirm that Toys R Us had stock (despite not calling). I should have fought for it, but I just left. I knew there was a Toys R Us nearby, so I convinced myself that I should just go to the source.

When I got to the Toys R Us, I discovered why they're selling this game on clearance: They're getting rid of their shelf space for PC games. The remaining PC games were sitting on the Electronics section counter, but Skyrim was no longer among them. The others were also $10, and included Battlefield 3 and Arkham City.

I suppose if I had raised a stink at Best Buy, I might have had better luck. But their policy only allows the price match if Toys R Us has them in stock, and had they called the local Toys R Us stores I'm sure they'd have found none remaining.

Oh well, I'll probably get it in a Steam sale this winter.

Thanks so much for letting us know about this deal. We didn't get Skyrim or Diablo III, but we did snag the last copies of MW3, and some other ones for our teenage gamer sons. Having to buy two or three copies of a game at a time (for multiplayer) is rough, so I really appreciate the deal.

Toys r us was out of stock. Went to best buy and they price matched no problem!

vote-for1vote-against

Gamefly has it right now for $35.99

Now, I know it's a big increase, but factor in gas (if you end up driving around to several different stores) and this seems alright.

It's Steam-required, so even if you purchase from Gamefly, you don't have to use their crappy application to play it.

Just an alternative for those who miss out on this, but don't want to pay the full $60.

vote-for1vote-against

I called my local Toys R' Us to see if they had the PC games in stock and was told that they are not offering those prices and do not have that deal presently. They wouldn't say if it had ended already or was coming soon, but said they had all their PC games in stock. Anyone have the same issue or know if this clearance is regional? I'm in Oregon.

vote-for1vote-against

Went to BB in Atl, manager said no way, can't price match.... heading to another one totry again...

vote-for1vote-against

@mtrlgrl: I feel ya, I got turned down at best buy and Walmart.

It is a sad day indeed.

vote-for2vote-against

My Wal-Mart-loving friend tried but they said they needed a 'physical ad' (even though they could look it up on the internet). Boo, Wal-Mart!

vote-for2vote-against

It all depends on who you talk to. I first went to Toys r Us to verify what's going on (and also picked up Rage for $9). Then I went to the Best Buy a quarter mile from the company HQ and and the guy called TrU and adamantly refused to match because it didn't meet both price and availability requirements. Then tried Target and got the "it must be a print ad" stonewalling, that clearly wasn't going anywhere. Then went to another Best Buy nearby and had no problems, no phone calls or anything the manager just came over and signed off on it.

Experience was probably a factor, the first guy was pretty young and junior employees are usually more worried about being disciplined/fired for not doing it by the book than losing a customer. Find someone with seniority if you can, they're more likely to deal.

vote-for1vote-against

Toys R' Us was out of stock, Wal-Mart gave me the run around about online ads, and even Best Buy refused to price match, apparently they called Toys R' Us to see about the price and found out they didn't have it in stock and told me, "Sorry if they don't have it in stock, we can't price match."

So much for buying myself an early birthday present, lol.

I don't suppose anyone would sell me an extra copy of Skyrim? ;_;

vote-for1vote-against

I sent my Wal-Mart-loving friend to get it for me. Fingers crossed.

vote-for1vote-against

Thank you all for the BestBuy suggestion!! We cannot stand Toys R Us/Babies R Us and BestBuy was amazing!!! Got 2 copies of Diablo III and 1 copy of Skyrim all for the $9.98 each!! BestBuy told us they would give us the price as long as we never try and shop at Toys R Us again!

vote-for1vote-against

@dmmutti: Yeah, once you get the game you can use the CD-key you get with the game to activate it on Steam. Go to the top menu bar and click on games then "Activate a Product on Steam..." just incase you didn't know how to get to it

vote-for1vote-against

Called the nearest Toys R Us (which is 45 minutes away) and was told they don't have any more copies left.

I'm a sad panda :-(

vote-for1vote-against

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have been waiting for the price to come down on this, but never thought I'd see it this low this soon.

vote-for2vote-against

Picked it up via Wal-Mart, no issues. They looked at the site and they price matched it without issue. I did make a point of showing them the "available in store"portion and then the electronics guy himself pointed out in their policy that they didnt even have to see an ad in order to price match. I think thats to allow them to call stores and ask about prices.

vote-for0vote-against

Just got back from Walmart, where I had them successfully price-match Diablo 3. They fought. HARD. They kept saying "we don't match in-store pricing" and "this is internet pricing," to which I responded "your policy states you match advertised prices. This is advertised" and "this is IN-STORE pricing, which is advertised on their website."

An associate, CSM, the assistant manager, and his boss were all involved before the boss finally said OK. I had a print-out of the ToysRUs website as well as the Walmart ad-match policy (I don't have a smartphone) so that when they said "I'm sorry, this is our policy," I could point to the ad-match printout and say "no, THAT'S your policy."

tl;dr: They will fight tooth and nail, but it's possible to get Walmart to price match.

True moral of this story? I win.

vote-for1vote-against

Target also requires a physical ad with the date and the listed price.

vote-for1vote-against

@wraycoli: WalMart screwed you. If you really feel like it, you could file a complaint. It isn't an "online offer," online offers are for online ONLY deals. This is an in-store deal.
They say you don't even need to bring in a copy of the ad, but I showed it to them on my phone because it was such a huge price cut, and they honored it, because they had to.
The guy at the register was sad because he had just bought it at full price and I felt bad :(

vote-for1vote-against

Went to a Wal-Mart first, and they wouldn't budge; they said they needed a date on the "ad" (even after I explained to them that it wasn't an ad, but their in-store price.) Went to Best Buy and didn't have a problem at all. The guys at the counter were pretty cool. I almost got told to come back tomorrow, since it was past 9PM when I went in store and Toys R US would have been closed already. The sales associate I was talking to said that since it wasn't sold online, he'd have to call up a store to confirm that they had it in stock. A manager came over and said not to worry about it and sell me the games at the price; I bought two copies of Diablo 3 and a copy of Skyrim. The experience was really pleasant these guys definitely made me want to check out Best Buy again in the future, even if it's just to price match something else.

So it seems that it depends largely upon where you're going to get it price matched. If they called Toys R Us, I could have been turned down easily.

vote-for2vote-against

went to best buy, asked for a price match, and picked it up for 10 bucks; thanks pixiestix88 for the tip!

vote-for1vote-against

@kikuichimoji: The Skyrim Nexus alone blows the Steam mods away. Definitely buying for this price!

vote-for1vote-against

@commoncandy: Same here :(
Was considering picking up when steam had the sale this week. This would have been a perfect birthday present for myself

vote-for3vote-against

I scored Diablo 3, Battlefield 3, and Skyrim @ my Walmart via ad match $31.44 total.

I tried to summarize how I made it work here in this comment but it said I had negative 4000 characters remaining on the comment so I put it up here:

http://hackrva.org/2012/10/diablo-3-battlefield-3-and-skyrim-31-44-total/

In short, know the ad match details before you go to Walmart, don't volunteer any information that would invalidate your deal, and be persistent.

vote-for1vote-against

Awww man did it go out of stock? I was so excited to see this posted here.

vote-for1vote-against

@kravvitz: I found the ad from my local Sunday paper. It doesn't show any PC games, just some PS3 and Xbox360 ones for $50+. So you guys encountering reluctant Wal-Mart employees may be out of luck.

vote-for2vote-against

Just went to Best Buy. They price matched it. Then the manager that did it for me bought one for himself!

vote-for0vote-against

Unfortunately, it would be a lot more than $9.99 to get a PC that could actually run Skyrim properly.

vote-for1vote-against

@rtrubinas: how did you manage to get them to price match, I cant get my Walmart to do it.They want a physical paper ad.

vote-for0vote-against

Walmart has priced matched for me on several occasions based on a gamestop email. must be the person your dealing with.

vote-for2vote-against

@kikuichimoji: I hate to be a negative Nancy, but Walmart only price matches for printed adds. Read on VVV.

I've called several Toys'R'Us locations in the Cincinnati area to locate this game with no luck... I have been told that $9.98 means it's a clearance item. Their intentions are to sell off all of their PC games and to no longer carry such games in their stock; therefore, if you're lucky enough to come across Skyrim at a Toys'R'Us, definitely snag this game b/c this is a phenomenal price!

vote-for2vote-against

I went to Walmart, grabbed a copy of the game, and took it straight to the customer service counter. They didn't have a toys r us flyer, so they called them to confirm the price. They had to clear the $40 discount with the manager, but ended up giving it to me.

vote-for2vote-against

ARGH. Both local ToysRUs stores were out of stock (one had no PC games at all) and both local WalMarts refused to price match, even though the printout clearly said "Sold in stores". They insisted it was an online-only price despite my accurate arguments to the contrary.

vote-for1vote-against

SCORE!
Went to my local Walmart and had to fight the manager, but they finally price-matched for $9.98.
Totally worth it for a HARD COPY of Skyrim.

vote-for1vote-against

To do price-matching you may want to look if there was a Toys R Us sales flyer in last Sunday's local paper and if so if Skyrim was shown in it.

vote-for-3vote-against

@sarya156:

Too late for what? you can price match at most places.
