Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for PC for $9.98
In stores only. Most places like Best Buy will price match if yours doesn't have it.
Sweet merciful crap, that's an amazing price! I think Walmart does price matching too, if that's easier for people.
Lol I honestly might pick it up as a second copy for any of my friends who haven't lived yet.
I have this game for PS3, I bet it would be better on the PC.... Tempting... I really like this game. It has consumed many hours of my life so far...
@lordofall200: You most definitely should. The mods available in the Steam Workshop add SO much enjoyment to the game. Me Gusta Moon, Trolling Trololol Troll, Macho Man Randy Dragon, etc.
Lol but seriously, the mods are awesome. Some awesome graphical ones too, if your video card has the chops for it.
Great deal for a great game. The PC version offers alot more possibilities thanks to steam workshop.
Bought this on Steam for $35 two days ago. Stupid stupid stupid
how do we do the price matching thing? do we print out the page and take it to the stores?
Once purchased, can you add this to Steam?
I know where I'm going after work!
I just had them price match it. I called first, told them about. They looked it up online and told me to come in and pick it up. Got Skyrim and Diablo 3 for $20. Wonderful day!
And yeah, it requires steam.
@dmmutti: Yes, you can add it through the Steam software. You can put the CD key that comes with the game into Steam, then it is like you bought the game through steam, so you can still get updates through steam.
@rtubinas Where did you get diablo 3 for $20?
@sappy00: It's also on sale at Toys R Us, for $10. For that matter, they've also got Battlefield 3 for $10.
KRAP!
I just bought the Steam version last night for $27 (the deal posted here).
Figures :(
Toys R Us has clearance on all the PC games in nearly every store. 9.98...
They're not going to be selling PC games in store any more.
Is this the newest Skyrim that everyone was exited about recently? I haven't been keeping up with my video games apparently.
Holy crap, that is the best price I've seen yet and anyone who doesn't have this game yet is out of excuses.
From Walmarts price-matching clause (Note second point):
We do not honor:
- Ads when the actual price for items cannot be determined
--------> Internet pricing
- Misprinted ad prices of other retailers
- "Going out of business" sales or "closeout" prices
I went in to purchase, they did not honor Toys R Us's pricing.
I wept in my car briefly before driving home with nothing.
My suggestion if you are going to try Walmart's Price Match is to lay it on thick that "this is the in-store purchase price for Toys R Us, the pricing is just stated online instead of in a paper ad".
What sort of minimum secs should I have to expect this to run well, if not necessarily perfectly? I don't have a gaming rig.
@wraycoli: It also says "We do not require customers to have the ad with them to honor a competitor's ad.", but the girl I'm on the phone with said I had to bring in the ad.
That's some bs though. You had it right, it's the in-store price too, it's not an internet price.
@stark: Specifically, I'm running this machine here: http://deals.woot.com/deals/details/a3156571-65f6-4c73-af8a-d8c695872f38/hp-quad-core-desktop-6gb-pc-refurbished#91
Called my local Toys-r-Us, and they are out of most games (including this one).
You might want to call before heading over there...
AGH I was too late.
Too late for what? you can price match at most places.
To do price-matching you may want to look if there was a Toys R Us sales flyer in last Sunday's local paper and if so if Skyrim was shown in it.
SCORE!
Went to my local Walmart and had to fight the manager, but they finally price-matched for $9.98.
Totally worth it for a HARD COPY of Skyrim.
ARGH. Both local ToysRUs stores were out of stock (one had no PC games at all) and both local WalMarts refused to price match, even though the printout clearly said "Sold in stores". They insisted it was an online-only price despite my accurate arguments to the contrary.
I went to Walmart, grabbed a copy of the game, and took it straight to the customer service counter. They didn't have a toys r us flyer, so they called them to confirm the price. They had to clear the $40 discount with the manager, but ended up giving it to me.
@kikuichimoji: I hate to be a negative Nancy, but Walmart only price matches for printed adds. Read on VVV.
I've called several Toys'R'Us locations in the Cincinnati area to locate this game with no luck... I have been told that $9.98 means it's a clearance item. Their intentions are to sell off all of their PC games and to no longer carry such games in their stock; therefore, if you're lucky enough to come across Skyrim at a Toys'R'Us, definitely snag this game b/c this is a phenomenal price!
Walmart has priced matched for me on several occasions based on a gamestop email. must be the person your dealing with.
@rtrubinas: how did you manage to get them to price match, I cant get my Walmart to do it.They want a physical paper ad.
Unfortunately, it would be a lot more than $9.99 to get a PC that could actually run Skyrim properly.
Just went to Best Buy. They price matched it. Then the manager that did it for me bought one for himself!
@kravvitz: I found the ad from my local Sunday paper. It doesn't show any PC games, just some PS3 and Xbox360 ones for $50+. So you guys encountering reluctant Wal-Mart employees may be out of luck.
Awww man did it go out of stock? I was so excited to see this posted here.
I scored Diablo 3, Battlefield 3, and Skyrim @ my Walmart via ad match $31.44 total.
I tried to summarize how I made it work here in this comment but it said I had negative 4000 characters remaining on the comment so I put it up here:
http://hackrva.org/2012/10/diablo-3-battlefield-3-and-skyrim-31-44-total/
In short, know the ad match details before you go to Walmart, don't volunteer any information that would invalidate your deal, and be persistent.
@commoncandy: Same here :(
Was considering picking up when steam had the sale this week. This would have been a perfect birthday present for myself
@kikuichimoji: The Skyrim Nexus alone blows the Steam mods away. Definitely buying for this price!
went to best buy, asked for a price match, and picked it up for 10 bucks; thanks pixiestix88 for the tip!
Went to a Wal-Mart first, and they wouldn't budge; they said they needed a date on the "ad" (even after I explained to them that it wasn't an ad, but their in-store price.) Went to Best Buy and didn't have a problem at all. The guys at the counter were pretty cool. I almost got told to come back tomorrow, since it was past 9PM when I went in store and Toys R US would have been closed already. The sales associate I was talking to said that since it wasn't sold online, he'd have to call up a store to confirm that they had it in stock. A manager came over and said not to worry about it and sell me the games at the price; I bought two copies of Diablo 3 and a copy of Skyrim. The experience was really pleasant these guys definitely made me want to check out Best Buy again in the future, even if it's just to price match something else.
So it seems that it depends largely upon where you're going to get it price matched. If they called Toys R Us, I could have been turned down easily.
@wraycoli: WalMart screwed you. If you really feel like it, you could file a complaint. It isn't an "online offer," online offers are for online ONLY deals. This is an in-store deal.
They say you don't even need to bring in a copy of the ad, but I showed it to them on my phone because it was such a huge price cut, and they honored it, because they had to.
The guy at the register was sad because he had just bought it at full price and I felt bad :(
Target also requires a physical ad with the date and the listed price.
Just got back from Walmart, where I had them successfully price-match Diablo 3. They fought. HARD. They kept saying "we don't match in-store pricing" and "this is internet pricing," to which I responded "your policy states you match advertised prices. This is advertised" and "this is IN-STORE pricing, which is advertised on their website."
An associate, CSM, the assistant manager, and his boss were all involved before the boss finally said OK. I had a print-out of the ToysRUs website as well as the Walmart ad-match policy (I don't have a smartphone) so that when they said "I'm sorry, this is our policy," I could point to the ad-match printout and say "no, THAT'S your policy."
tl;dr: They will fight tooth and nail, but it's possible to get Walmart to price match.
True moral of this story? I win.
Picked it up via Wal-Mart, no issues. They looked at the site and they price matched it without issue. I did make a point of showing them the "available in store"portion and then the electronics guy himself pointed out in their policy that they didnt even have to see an ad in order to price match. I think thats to allow them to call stores and ask about prices.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have been waiting for the price to come down on this, but never thought I'd see it this low this soon.
Called the nearest Toys R Us (which is 45 minutes away) and was told they don't have any more copies left.
I'm a sad panda :-(
@dmmutti: Yeah, once you get the game you can use the CD-key you get with the game to activate it on Steam. Go to the top menu bar and click on games then "Activate a Product on Steam..." just incase you didn't know how to get to it
Thank you all for the BestBuy suggestion!! We cannot stand Toys R Us/Babies R Us and BestBuy was amazing!!! Got 2 copies of Diablo III and 1 copy of Skyrim all for the $9.98 each!! BestBuy told us they would give us the price as long as we never try and shop at Toys R Us again!
I sent my Wal-Mart-loving friend to get it for me. Fingers crossed.
Toys R' Us was out of stock, Wal-Mart gave me the run around about online ads, and even Best Buy refused to price match, apparently they called Toys R' Us to see about the price and found out they didn't have it in stock and told me, "Sorry if they don't have it in stock, we can't price match."
So much for buying myself an early birthday present, lol.
I don't suppose anyone would sell me an extra copy of Skyrim? ;_;
