Since I can't vote twice for this deal, the least I can do is comment twice. Gotta love Walmart.

vote-for5vote-against

Seems like a million times better deal than a $300 Netbook

vote-for3vote-against

I picked one up on Sunday morning. Excellent little dual core laptop for the money. T4400 Pentium, 3GB ram, 250GB HDD, Win7 Home Premium 64bit. WAY better then what I almost bought.

You see...

I was in the market for a small laptop/netbook. I was veering towards a netbook, specifically the ASUS 1201N but that thing is nearly $500 but I wanted a dual core & decent graphics for video & current netbook aren't to hot at that unless you have one with the ION chip. However my budget was $300 and I was trying to get one for $200. So I was eyeing up an Acer Aspire One that came stock with 2GB ram and Vista that is on clearance at a local department store...

Continued...

The price wasn't coming down enough for me to buy a display and then I saw the Walmart flyer and this deal for the eMachines. I figured WOW, I'll sacrifice a smaller size for those specs anyday. Walked into my local Walmart Sunday morning at around 8am, thought they may be out already considering ours is a 24hr store, but they didn't even put them out yet!! I was the first to grab one at my store. And very glad I did. Such a nice deal for my first portable PC.

@adingostolemybaby:

Indeed it is, and I almost bought one of them sub-par $300 netbooks. That is until I found this deal.

vote-for1vote-against

Must...resist... buying.

This is an incredible deal, too bad I don't have the $$$.

vote-for2vote-against

Man, I sure want this. Too bad I don't have the funds...

@rdldr1: @cortes121:

I too didn't have the funds at the time. I just asked a close relative (my father) if I could borrow $300 for a month. He agreed so i got one. If he hadn't let em then I guess there would have always been "next time"

It never hurts to ask IMO.

vote-for1vote-against

yea, great price BUT my newest little netbook is RED this emachine doesn't come in RED nor does it have a web cam...still great software in it. :)

vote-for1vote-against

I jumped on one (it doesn't hurt that I live within walking distance of a Walmart). They didn't have one on display but I spotted what looked like an eMachines in cage underneath the displays and collared a worker to check it out and Viola!

It has an "inexpensive" feel to it but seems decently fast. Going through my usual uninstall-everything-emachines routine. Will post updates if I notice anything.

wow, great price.. it's a real deal!

So if the heaviest loads I run are some RAW image editing, some hobby-level music editing/recording, and maybe the latest Sims game, would this be adequate?
I haven't shopped for a new PC since 2003, feel free to talk to me like I'm a total n00b.

vote-for1vote-against

Should run most apps perfectly fine including 3D games like Sims, but not advanced games like Crysis. Check graphic card specs here: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Graphics-Media-Accelerator-GMA-4500M.20379.0.html

I got 2 of these for my now ex girlfriend and her brother because their laptops were stolen. It was the same price on Tigerdirect.com on Black Friday. They like them but they are not gamer speed.

vote-for1vote-against

@ryemonkey: If you are not as concerned with great speed as you are low cost, this is the best option. You can do all those things (maybe not all at once) but it might take a little time on loading and compiling them as these tasks run your resources to the max. If your current computer was made in 2003 you'll love this in every way.

THANK YOU for posting this. Picked it up on lunch and so far I'm very impressed. I've been looking for a great deal on a laptop for the past month and I'm glad I held out.

vote-for1vote-against

Thanks for the post! I picked one up and am setting it up now. Seems like a great deal to me.

The first Walmart I called didn't have any but the 2nd one had 5 left. I usually avoid Walmart but I was in need a cheap laptop and the cheapest ones I could find were for at least $400.

I just picked one up this morning. Its a little slower than i had hoped, but other than that its pretty nice.

WOW!!! What a deal. Bought one at my local Wal-Mart and I'm really impressed. A real value for the money.

Picked one up last night at the local WM and so far I've been impressed.

cwarriorx (or anyone) - I haven't purchased an eMachines before, how come you are, "Going through my usual uninstall-everything-emachines routine."? Do eMachines come bloated with a bunch of crud? Do they come with a disc that allows you to just reinstall windows 7 without all the crud?

vote-for2vote-against

@zracoon: eMachines, like just about all OEM computers come with a lot of useless stuff - eMachines themes, eMachines update software, links to random sites on the desktop, Norton AV 60 day trial, MS Office 60 day trial, etc. The first thing I do when I buy an OEM laptop is take a trip to Add/Remove Programs and remove anything that I don't want and replace it with less spammy programs. It doesn't come with a restore CD/DVD so I recommend doing a full system backup once you have things the way you like them and before you start perusing the adult sites ;)

vote-for1vote-against

Bought one last night. Very nice for the price. I also have a $299 Emachine desktop from Wal-Mart for over a year still works fine as well. These are great machines for the value if you need one for word processing, photo editing and web surfing.

You will want to call your local Wal-Mart instead of relying on the site for availability. Wal-Mart.com did not list my local WM as having any in stock, but I called and they actually had 4.

Picked one up yesterday and just got it fired up today. I too was looking at a netbook as an email/internet/online video machine, but this little guy puts them to shame. More CPU, more memory, and Win7 Prem to boot.

vote-for1vote-against

I got two of these things todayand picked up 3 printers for $20.00 each on closeout. WOW!!! Cartrages are $20 for the color and $15 for the black. I will just recycle one of the printer when I need ink!!! YOU GOT TO LOVE WALMART*

vote-for1vote-against

What a great deal. Had purchased an Acer Aspire One at Costco for the same price. Nice unit but the screen was way too small. Took the Acer back to Costco, found a Walmart that had these in stock and have been happy ever since.

Don't miss out on this moneysaver.

vote-for1vote-against

Picked one up last night, not too shabby if I do say so. Remove the bloatware and it runs like a real machine. It's not the nicest thing in the world, but for $300 you can't go wrong.

vote-for1vote-against

In for 1. Wally World had a bunch left.
