I actually just picked this up from Walmart's discount Blu Ray bin for the same price. I haven't had time to watch it yet though. One of my alt time favorites!

Many people don't know this, but Mel Brooks actually remastered this movie for the Blu-Ray release with added sceens and CGI effects that were not previously available at the time the movie was created. He also added some extra dialog to help explain some of the more subtle jokes.

He was even able to bring in Bill Pullman to film some new scenes of him running down a hallway.

When asked why he was changing the contents of original movie, Brooks insisted that these new scenes, dialog, and CGI were how he originally envisioned the movie.

In summary, older movies shot on 35mm film are better than HD quality. Ultimately though, it's up to the distributors of the Blu-rays to take care when adapting them to get the most out of them.
