While a cool looking knife, a hollow handle indicates that the knife doesn't have a "full tang" or that the blade material doesn't run throughout the length of the knife.

While not everyone needs a survival knife, nobody should own a $6 garbage survival-kit-in-a-knife. Nobody.

It may be a cheaper knife than the norm, but frankly if you can't afford the $100 KA-BAR for your survival kit or camping gear then this is still a great alternative until you have the means to get the better version.

Hey I have this exact same knife I got at a flea market like 10 years ago
It's pretty nice, unless this one being sold is a replica, it looks like the blade is black in this one and mine is polished steel

@lifevirusx: http://wholesalemilitary.net/wholesalemilitary/Products/89-camouflage-survival-kit-knife.aspx

Thats a camouflage version, .30 cents more.

These are ROTHCO Brand Knives, What did you get at the flea market?

@bkindustries: It's cheaper for a reason. The reason is it's crap.

Buying a decent full tang knife and assembling the survival kit will cost more, yes. But not the $100 you stated (unless you actually do go whole hog and get a Ka-Bar), and you will get far, far more value out of it in the long run AND not have to worry about that cheap knife snapping in half the first time you actually use it, which is exactly what the one I once bought when I was much younger did.

@datcord: True buying a full tang knife and assembling your own survival kit would be much much better quality and in the long run be a better decision, and I sell the full tang knives also (even KA-BAR brand) and I sell the survival kit pieces, but this is about a deal on a cheap knife, not a high quality one.

Maybe next time I will do a deal on a high quality full tang knife, this time its a cheap one.

Black Survival Kit Knife for $5.36

For surviving blacks?

vote-for2vote-against

@wesoloid: I thought you had to be black to buy it.

here's a video review of what appears to be the same product:

preeeeety worthless.

vote-for2vote-against

ITs a "Black" Survival knife because its the color black. And the video IS NOT of this knife, it may have some similarities though.

But again as said before this is a deal for a cheap $5 knife, not some high end gerber or KA-BAR. If you want high quality this isn't for you, if you simply want a survival knife for cheap, this is it, they don't get any cheaper.

Dull the edge, remove the point, fill the handle with some lead balls or something and glue it shut.. perfect cheap training knife or prop for a movie.

vote-for2vote-against

A survival knife isn't much good if it's so cheap it breaks when you try to use it. Which, being a survival knife, will be right when you really can't afford to have it break.

This knife was the coolest thing in the world to me when I bought it... back when I was 10 and playing commando in the woods. I bet this would make an awesome gift for a young boy.

@peterflynn: My first survival knife (which was just like this) my dad got me when I was 6, 20 years later I still have it and its still in great condition, besides the compass breaking (from smashing up against something) and the survival kit missing (had to use it) the knife itself is still fine. It may not work from someone who is really a hog wild survivalist but for a kid or teenager who is just using it occasionally in the woods it works out perfect.

Where is the "White Survival Kit?"

@jarrodrandel: If you mean "White Trash" survival kit this one should work fine.
