Anyone know how long it takes to fully charge the battery pack on these? Following that, how long does the charge last?

vote-for1vote-against

@mstar5: Batteries Reach a Full Charge in 2½ Hours (sited from website)

not sure on how long that lasts.... :)

@wootiewooterson: I wonder if the 2 1/2hr charge (assuming that's 4 all wiimotes at once) shortens though if there are fewer batteries on it or if it's constant rate.

@mstar5: sadly, i do not have that answer.
hang tight, be patient, i will contact DOWS to see if they know.

we might not get an answer until a bit later, so bear with me. thanks :)

Would the battery packs that come with it be black as well?

Will this work with motion plus wiimotes?

@philipgroven: The Motion plus is a plugin on the bottom of the wiimote, just unplug the motionplus sensor and it will fit on the base.

Anyone have experience w/ this brand? I bought a charger awhile back (different brand) and it stopped charging after a few months.

@specsmachine: HAH!It is! I haven't seen that in years.

The only review similar to this is: http://www.gamechronicles.com/gear/wii/puquadcharge/station.htm

Amazon sells the older model for about $10 more plus s/h. The battery appears to be a LIon and lasts for 12 - 15 hours. Additional battery packs are available from there site.

@kdd119: I got one of Penguin's chargers (along with a few other toys) a couple of months ago, and it's all going pretty rock solid with my stuff. I've always been pretty wary of third party junk but their products seem to be good so far.

I know it only charges two at a time (there's a 4x available but it's $49) but this is the best charger I've found, bar none. it works with motionplus installed and any sleeves/protectors and it's energizer - a trusted name in batteries. I've had mine almost a year now and it keeps the batteries topped off without overcharging, charges quick and is inobtrusive in my entertainment setup.

@bahudspeth: I think that's the better choice. I've always been a proponent of spending the extra $ for what you want instead of settling. You end up going enh, I could have gotten xxx. Thank you. I think that's what I'll end up getting.

@bahudspeth: How long do the energizer batts last? DOWS has one of thise flat panel charger things that's supposed to last up to 14 hours.

@mstar5: @bane3d: The life of the battery depends on what game you play, as some games utilize more sound and vibration, which can run the battery out longer than a game that is simply point and shoot/move, etc. It can last longer depending on how its used, but 4-7 hours is realistic.

It’s comparable to black chargers out there as far as charging capacity for NiMH batteries which typically are not as powerful as Li-ion, so comparing it to a Li-Ion of ~13 hours isn’t quite apples to apples.

The dock station in general is more of a convenience item as you always have a charged wiimote at hand. There is nothing worse than running out of juice during a Mario Party Mini Game.

I purchased these about 4 months ago. Love them! We had been using NiMh rechargable batteries, but they weren't lasting long enough. We've never had a problem with the charge on these and have taken them out of the house for some weekend mini-vacations without issue.

The battery packs are black.

We do have one off-brand wii-mote and it sometimes falls out of the charger. However, I think that's an issue with it rather than the charger. The Nintendo wii-motes seem to be just fine.
