Both our Schlotzky's closed in Reno, I miss them so much! Such unique delicious sandwiches....Dang now I'm hungry..

Schlotzsky's was my favorite fast food sandwich for many years. Basic sandwich on dark rye with lots of horseradish sauce. All of ours closed for some years. and about a year ago one opened on the far side of town. I tried it twice and it was definitely not up to the old standards. Another opened a few months ago on the side of town I frequent, but I haven't tried it yet. I have high hopes for it being better, it's in a more upscale part of town and restaurant competition is fierce. I don't know if I am going to be able to make it over there today to try it, though. It's still about a 25m RT.

@embeleko: I think that Schlotzky's basic recipe is rooted in the New Orleans muffuletta.

Schlotzky's original: Lean smoked ham, Genoa and cotto salamis, and melted cheddar, mozzarella, and parmesan cheeses layered with black olives, red onion, lettuce, tomato, mustard and our signature dressing on our toasted Sourdough bun.

Muffuletta: A traditional style muffuletta sandwich consists of a muffuletta loaf split horizontally and covered with layers of marinated olive salad, capicola, mortadella, salami, pepperoni, ham, Swiss cheese and provolone. The sandwich is sometimes heated to soften the provolone. (Wiki)

I haven't been to NY as an adult, but from what I see on TV I suspect it would be difficult for a sandwich chain to compete with NY's famous delis.

It originated in Austin, TX in 1971.

I never heard of this company...as far as I know they do not have this chain in New York

Darn. No Schlotzky's around here. :(
Had to have Subway for lunch. Doesn't even come close to being pale by comparison.

@vmedcalf: I posted it first thing in the morning of the day of the sale, before 8am mountain time. I don't know why the post says 1:43pm. I share all the deals I find with the secretaries at work, and one of them gave me a print ad for this sale on Monday. Since by Woot rules I couldn't post it till Tuesday I put it on my desk and searched for a webpage I could link to and posted it as soon as I came in to work.
