Magnavox 26” 720p LCD/DVD Combo for $179.99 + $5.00 shipping
Just in time for America’s REAL favorite pastime: more television.
We bought an Akai with a built in DVD player about 4 years ago, and the DVD didn't make it to the 1 year mark. I completely agree about bundling these things together... But if the picture was decent, I'd go for it anyway. Sounds like probably not.
I've had a 1080p 26" Magnavox HDTV/DVD combo as a bedroom tv for 4+ years now. Never had a single issue with it. The DVD player in my set even plays Divx files, although I'm not sure about today's deal.
Pfft. I know a genuine Panaphonics when I see it. And look, there's Magnetbox and Sorny.
My wife's been hinting that she wants a new TV in the bedroom for Mother's Day... this certainly fits the size and price range that I like - gonna have to go look up the real world reviews on it...
Sounds like most reviews are loving this tv as a bedroom tv. Decent picture. Many happy for the $309 price tag. My guess is these are refurbished because the DVD player needed to be replaced.
I purchased this same model 3 years ago when it first came out... $500!
Was my first LCD TV. Anywho...
The built in dvd player did not make it 9 months. Tv works great.
Currently its in my basement with a PS3, Wii, and a PC connected to it.
Makes a good 26" monitor!
I have a 26" Magnavox, but not the model with the built-in DVD. And I paid $210 for it about 6 months ago.
If it's like the model I bought, the picture is okay but leaves a lot to be desired. Lots of light bleeding. Solid black screen showed some purple near the top.
If someone has this exact model, let me know if the screen is better.
I like the combo but i want tv & blueray ...
We purchased this same TV only a 19inch ($199) for my son 5 years ago and its still going strong and its used every night.
I would not consider the DVD player a plus on this. Most built in anything breaks pretty quick and they are not covered under manufacture warranty.

From the Amazon Reviews for a similar model:
"Although this unit is still advertised (and apparently still ships) with firmware that only supports 720p/1080i resolution, note that Magnavox released a number of "software updates" to this model, one of which fully enabled 1080p resolution.
The update can be downloaded from the Magnavox website; just search under the full model name (26MF330B) and it should direct you to the appropriate page."
Note there is no firmware update for THIS WOOT model 26MD350B.
Regardless, the guy's an idiot right? Panel resolution: 1366 x 768p
isn't going to change based on firmware. Now the ability to input and downscale 1080i or 1080p might change by firmware.
Anyways, I passed the other day on a combo (that I planned on delivering this weekend) because of bad reviews on the sound. The worst review on this (similar models) seems to be limited viewing angle. Not a problem for someone living alone.
In for one.
Magnavox is still a thing? I though Philips got rid of that years ago. Great old tube tv's though.
Also WTF happened to smart sound?
Just opened the box. What a disappointment. The base/stand is not compatible with the TV. Without being able to stand the TV up, it is useless.
Just got ours hooked up. DOESN'T WORK! white screen with 2 vertical black lines. Wont' do anything else! Won't take a DVD either. First WOOT experience is a bust. Bet there won't be another one~!!!!!
I just got mine and the DVD player doesn't work, right out of the box. Great, now I get to deal with good ole' customer service. I thought that the DVD player would go out at some point but this is rediculous.
Is it true that TV units with DVD players usually have a DVD Drive issue that hinders the use of the TV? Or are they separate in features and can work independently?
It's true that the DVD player almost always dies first, but the tv still works fine as a separate unit. Mine with a dead DVD still gets used daily as a tv hooked up to cable, and a Wii.
I purchased this set for my elderly Mother (who is in a nursing home care) set it up yesterday (Sunday 05-07-12)and the DVD player locked up within 15 minutes of play.
After following all of the manual instructions, it still will not release the DVD. It has now eaten one of my Mothers home movies of her Grandchildren and now she cannot watch any of her other home movies.
The televion part works nicely (so far) I have contacted customer service to seee what we can do to replace or correct the issue.
Will keep you all posted...
WOW!
Superfast response from Woot customer service (within 3 hours) and they are working on replacing the defective television.
Will keep you posted....
WOW WOW!!
I'm very impressed!
Replacement set arrived very quickly and it has worked remarkably well.
WOOT was the best customer service experience I have had with internet company in a very long time.
Cudos to such a great company. My Mother is LOVING the new TV with built in DVD to easily watch DVDs of her Grandchilderns home movies.
Thank you WOOT!!!
Just set it up yesterday and, while size makes it an excellent bedroom TV, the picture is not
high-quality. Forget high-def, this isn't even low-def. Colors and lines bleed through,
contrast and sharpness are horrendous, even after fiddling with settings. I am not happy, regardless
of the great price. At this poor picture quality, even the price is not great.
Thanks for sharing Interesting post. Thanks for taking this opportunity to discuss this, I appreciate with this and I like learning about this subject. If possible, as you gain information, please update this blog with more information. I have found it really useful.

The player takes DVDs just like the CDs in a car stereo right? Nice and simple. Perfect for my parents who r in their 80s. The simpler the operation the better. I know that I can play movies on mine without the remote too. It gets lost sometimes
