great deal... any day now and Honeycomb will be a full release.

vote-for2vote-against

I really want to bite. I want an android tablet...

Can I return to BN if I don't want it (and don't root it, obviously)?

vote-for2vote-against

Of course this deal comes up a couple days after I get one. I did get a small discount from a B&N groupon I found on deals.woot.com. Already rooted it and loaded Android 3.0 on a uSD.

vote-for1vote-against

I really do want it, but I think I may need to hold off until Wednesday.

I kinda wanna see what Apple will release.

The deal says that it will be up until Thursday Morning.

I just bought one of these for my wife 3 days agoe for $250+tax! Of course she's got it all loaded up with her books already and isn't interested in having me return it so i can get the better deal through ebay.

I have a nook color and am running cyanogenmod 7 (2.3 gingerbread) on it which makes it 10x more functional than with the autonooter with softkeys. You can't beat the nook color as an android tablet with the feature, support on xda-developers, nookdevs and androidtables (dot net).

@all you should bite if you're thinking about it. I bought one at full price a week ago, have froyo installed, and I can't put it down. I couldn't resist

vote-for1vote-against

In for one.
Same processor as the Motorola Droid X/2
Here is a video comparing it to the Galaxy Tab wich is 3x the cost

@kuyote: its out there man. just Google "Nook Color Honeycomb" and you'll see how easy it is. gah if only i had $200 to spend i would buy this immediately.

vote-for1vote-against

Are these actually new? Clicked on the warranty tab on the ebay page and it redirects to a page for warranty info on a certified pre-owned nook???

vote-for1vote-against

Seriously thinking about this for an Android tablet. Pros & cons?

vote-for1vote-against

@notroberto: Condition:
New: A brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item in its original packaging (where packaging is applicable). Packaging should be the same as what is found in a retail store, unless the item is handmade or was packaged by the manufacturer in non-retail packaging, such as an unprinted box or plastic bag. See the seller's listing for full details.

vote-for1vote-against

@drigout: But this is the only place I see the condition as new, maybe someone clicked the wrong check-box? I'd be more convinced if it said new in the title or anywhere else for that matter.

vote-for1vote-against

@notroberto: I just went to this Barnes & Noble eBay page a day ago, and they were only selling the original Nook. It's likely that they haven't yet updated the warranty page with info about the Nook Color.

And as drigout says, the condition is listed as "New."

Deal is dead, now listing at 249.00

@marcand:
Pros: You can root it very easily, and it's nearly un-brick-able.
It has the same guts as a Droid 2, and costs half as much
It's the perfect size to use as an e-reader.
It's more portable and convenient than an iPad
It's very very affordable (even at normal price!)
There's a huge development community around it (XDA)
Chicks dig it.

Cons:
If you order it on eBay, It'll take a few days to get yo you. That's sad.
You'll find several hours per day simply vanish while you play Angry Birds
You will lose some friends because they will be jealous of how cool you are now
It cures male pattern baldness, and some chicks dig bald guys.

vote-for1vote-against

@beakerbload: enter coupon code CBARNESDD at checkout for $50 off

vote-for1vote-against

@beakerbload: No, there is a $50 off code right under the name of the product.

vote-for1vote-against

@beakerbload: sorry, I missed that bit(tired you see), in for one.

vote-for1vote-against

@saxon81:

I'll add some things, as someone who has one and loves it.

Cons:
Touch screen could be a bit better. It's usable, but not great.
No cell network connectivity or GPS.
It appears to have a bluetooth radio, but last I heard, no one's gotten the thing to actually work. So, for now, no bluetooth either.

Pros:
The lcd screen is beautiful.
The thing is damn near unbrickable, due to its ability to boot from microSD.
The chicks do indeed dig it, as do the dudes.
And because this point also needs to be stressed, the dev community is in love with the thing. Expect all kinds of goodies for it. Heck, it's got honeycomb already.

Overall, it makes for an excellent Android tablet for the price.

vote-for1vote-against

got one last week at 250$. great android tablet (once rooted)

vote-for1vote-against

@ecgreg: are all functions working? can i install it from rom manager?

vote-for1vote-against

In for one. Been waiting to get a good deal on a tablet and this is the one im biting on. Thanks WOOT!

vote-for1vote-against

AWESOME,
I just sold one for $280 and now i get another for $214!!
Thanks for posting this amazing deal!!!

vote-for2vote-against

@beakerbload: Not dead. you have to enter the code.

If you are getting this to read your books you will be disappointed because the original nook is the most amazing thing for reading, because it is not backlit it doesn't hurt your eyes. I have the original for reading my millions of books and I just recently bought the color one for full price and I do love it. It is great for wireless internet and amazing color pictures. I love the read to me books for the children and the childrens books are much better on this nook. I was informed that B&N will be creating an apps store in the near future.

Just like I told my mother who is 57 and addicted to her color nook already, this is a much better buy than an Itouch or Ipad, you can upload all of your music to it and listen to Pandora with wifi. You can put tons on pictures on it to show off your kids and grandkids. You can check your email, get on facebook, search internet, you can read books, and magazines.

vote-for1vote-against

Deal is right on the front page of eBay, seems they are sponsoring it.
It currently has approx. one hour left until it is over.

vote-for2vote-against

@all just got one for $200 + NM sales tax. Came out to $211 with free shipping. Deal is still on...

vote-for0vote-against

Read the notes at the bottom. Deal is on until 8am pacific Thursday, March 3rd.

vote-for1vote-against

Already got one for the wife for X-mas.. She loves her's but won't let me mess with it. In for one of my very own!!

vote-for1vote-against

If you root the thing does it retain all the software functionality of an un-moded one? i.e. the B&N store etc.? Thanks.

vote-for1vote-against

@sushiessential Yes it can retain the B&N store functionality. I watched a video on Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwp9IqhBTNs) that compared a Nook running the Android mod to a Samsung Galaxy Tab, and in the video the Narrator covers the B&N store.

Still works, in for 1 @ $214 shipped. Looks like Shipping is free but they charge your local state tax.

vote-for1vote-against

@sushiessential: Just adding to givvy. Rooting alone will let you keep the B&N stuff. If you flash a new kernel you'll probably lose the B&N stuff, but you can always flash back to stock. I have mine simply rooted and I have Android 3.0 boot-able from a micro SD (Somewhat best of both worlds).

vote-for1vote-against

You can also install full blown Ubuntu (don't know if you can dual boot). I am so darn tempted.

vote-for1vote-against

Excitement is mounting. Thanks dudes!

@rgarcia3: As far as I can tell all the functions work with cyanogen 7 nightly release 8. You have to install it by an ext4 formatted micro sd card. I picked up an extra for $16 just to reflash the updated nightlies. The data/apps/personal info has been persistent even after I update to the most recent nightly release.

I highly recommend it and suspect there will be a release candidate soon.

If you follow the install instructions on the nookcolor section of the cyanogenmod forum you will learn the specfics including how to upgrade your kernal to a faster speed and install gmail and the market.
