I grabbed one of these the last time they were being offered. They're certainly bright enough but they don't seem like they'd take much abuse. But the price makes it well worth it.

These are great for emergency lighting during blackouts, since they radiate light in all directions. I hang mine from my ceiling fan pull chains, but they're also stable enough to set on a table or bookcase. It's not really bright enough to read by unless you're right next to it, but it'll give you enough ambient lighting to see by, even in a fairly large room.

All comments were good to hear, I just ordered one, thanks!

Yea, just grabbed one. I've never shopped at Meritline so I clicked on the Dollar Store tab. How funny what's shown at the most popular item.

It made out of hard plastic, it will crack if drop hard. But come on, it's cheap. I have not drop mine but I think it'll survive most abuse.

it's not water proof but I think it can be use in the rain without much worry. I've opened it up and there is nothing inside but some screws and wires.

The first few days on a set of fresh battery it's super bright. After that it gets dimmer and dimmer. It can run for months dim like this. (day = 24hrs on time)

imo if you have some AA that died on your other devices, put it into this light and leave it somewhere dark. It'll light up that dark area for months if not year while draining that battery completely.

Got two last time.

1st one: Top hook snapped off
2nd one: Top hook snapped off, battery cover broke off.

Had them in storage for a year, dug them out with original batteries (I installed), still glowing bright.

Overall conclusion: Still worth it.

Attempted to redeem, but got an error. Looks like the promo code has reached its redemption limit. Still, you guys convinced me. I ordered 2 for 7.49 with free shipping.

I picked up one the last time they were on sale... nice little simple lantern. It's very small. I leave it in the bathroom medicine cabinet in case of a power outage. It's puts out a decent amount of light in a 360 pattern, so it's perfect for the bathroom.

I too grabbed one of these, I agree not a bad little lantern and for the price hard to beat. I just grabbed another one. Just a quick heads up, when you check out it will automatically add shipping but you can select a free "ground" option.

I just bought this and the coupon worked fine. MLCKQ22HNL1

Make sure you don't have any spaces at the beginning or end and like mentioned already it is only good for 1 item and CHECK THE FREE SHIPPING OPTION. It defaults to priority shipping.

I have 4 of these. They're cheap, but bright. I bought another one today... Can never have enough battery powered lights..

Code still working as of 30 sec before this post. It's right on the product page as well.

These things are great. I used mine for 4-5 days last time our power went out.

@ttm77: Thanks for the battery tip. I have around half a dozen of these (just snagged another), but I haven't used any one of them heavily enough to see it go dim. I do like the idea of draining weak batteries, and I can think of an application already.

Just tried. Denied. Coupon has reached maximum limit. If anyone gets through, please post. I'll try again. Thanks. Handy item for power outages.

Just a few minutes to late. I have one already and it is a handy little light to have on boy scout and family camping trips.

These are great. They're bright and reliable, and if you accidentally smash it or lose it, who cares?

I also think that dead battery application is a good idea.l I already figured out I can use spent batteries in it, but the leaving it on 24/7 in dark places idea is a good one. :^)

I am getting "expired" on the coupon code too. And I entered it very carefully when I copied/pasted :-)

Confirmed, coupon seems to be no longer valid. Original price of $4.99 with free shipping is now the new price.
