This price is for the version narrated by David Attenborough. The blu-ray narrated by Oprah is $53.19. Fortunately, David is a much better narrator and I'll definitely get his version.
Well, you have to spend an additional $7.05 more to get the free shipping (if I read it correctly), but it still beats the Amazon offer (which I'm already pre-ordered for). I wouldn't be surprised to see Amazon's price drop before the product comes out, and they will honor the lower rice. Of course, who knows what that price might be? We will see.
In any case, this is a good deal! Wooted.
@flyswatter
I just purchased it this morning, and it came out to around $43 after tax and I had free shipping.
Have no fear.
@razorc03: Ahh! You're killin' me here! My Amazon pre-order is $6 dollars more, and all my prior Amazon pre-orders have shipped for less than the original purchase price. You've got me considering canceling the Amazon order.
@flyswatter:
haha! I canceled my Amazon preorder this morning. It's ok. It won't hurt that much :)
seriously.. who wants to watch another one of these... wasn't Planet Earth enough for you to bore yourselves to death while watching?
@devexityspace: Obviously not, but thanks for your insensitive and boorish 'contribution'.
In the same boat with the Amazon pre-order. I would prefer to buy from Amazon so I get free two day shipping. For those of you that have had prices change on existing preorders, does Amazon notify you by email if the price changes?
@mbmanaus: In my experience, you are only notified after the order fulfillment.
@devexityspace: If you don't like it, feel free to not buy it. This post is for those of us who don't get our kicks from watching 'Vampire Diaries' or 'Tyler Perry's House of Payne'.
i already bought the attenborough version on amazon.co.uk. looks AMAZING! i LOVE it! oh & @devexityspace: did you think was a twilight DVD? now run along the adults are talking...
Did anyone else read the description? In the second sentence it says,
"Four years in the making and filmed over 3000 days..."
If it only took them four years, it would be 365 * 4 = 1461 (+1 for leap year) which is no where close to 3000 days!
@scutter: I would assume that it means shooting days. i.e. they counted every single day that they had one of their many teams on location to get certain shots. Based on the making-ofs that I saw some of the shots took over a year to get, most took weeks.
Niiice. So glad to finally get to see this as a talk show narrator just was not appealing to me in the US Discovery version.
@scutter: 3000 days of film takes a while to edit and compile into a DVD/Blu-Ray collection.
Thus, it probably took them four years to compile the 3000 days of film into this DVD/Blu-ray collection.
Pumped up, put in my pre-order and I am so ready to start listening to David's sultry voice explain the wonders of the world!

@scottchmitch: you missed the pre-sale. its okay i did too. Just ordered mine for $52, not much in the way of deals. woot anyhow for Life and the UK version!
Pre-ordered mine on May 21 set to ship June 1, and B&N emailed me yesterday saying there is a delay. Didnt state when its going to be shipped. Sucks, was hoping it would get here by Friday...Bunch of BS.
@chiefilliniwek83: Update - Woohooo, looks like they shipped it today!
