That's an awesome player, but YIKES it is expensive.

Yes, I'm aware CableCARD stuff is expensive, but $250 is way too expensive for me. Plus I'm trying to cut the cord for cable anyways.

So put me down in the no pile.

I just got the infiniTV 4. Other than the connection of the cable itself, I love every second of it.

This is a 'beaut. I currently just use the HDHomeRun QAM tuners for my HD content for Windows 7 media center. I was so close to pulling the trigger on the infiniTV when this was announced. If the infiniTV is worth 400 for 4 tuners, sure this is a steal at 3 tuners for 250.
These guys were the first to give me a QAM tuner which let me get rid of all of my cable boxes. Now I get all that cable box functionality back for a relatively reasonable price.
As with everything, if you have DVRs or converter boxes provided by your cable company you're probably paying a significant amount for those to rent. If you can drop your bill by 25 a month that's a 10 month return on investment.

Can this be used without a cable card and just hooked up to an antenna? Do they make a cheaper, three tuner box for use only with an antenna?

@dazoneranger: No, it cannot tune over-the-air ATSC signals. It can function as a Clear QAM tuner without a cable card. There is not a cheaper three tuner box for only over-the-air broadcasts but you can get an HDHomeRun Single and a normal one with two tuners, both of which can tune ATSC signals, plug them into your network, and have three tuners. It would be slightly cheaper than having the Prime, and the drivers on your computer will still load balance between them automatically.

Check out the HDHR3 from Silicone Dust. It's the 3rd generation HD HomeRun device that tunes off QAM from cable or over-the-air ATSC. It has 2 tuners and streams out a MPEG stream and goes for about 125.

I picked up the 4 tuner InfiniTV4 last August, and I've been saving $25/month on the cable companies DVR & set top boxes since, so I'm slightly ahead of the game that I would be if I'd waited for this.

Note that the blurb should point out that you need Windows 7 Media Center for any encrypted content - how much of what you want to watch is encrypted will depend on your cable provider.

Thanks for getting me all excited that it was actually available...

It is available.... At the end of June.
Anything encrypted generally boils down to anything that can't be tuned by your TV by plugging in the cable directly to it. You'll find that you'll get about the same programing unencrypted as you would with an antenna.
